The Right Wing Religion
Ann Coulter compared Liberalism to a religious system, and recently the President of a militant Anti-Abortion group said Pro-Choice people were members of a church.

Wow. Project much?

Using their own system of determining that someone follows a religious belief system, this is what I could come up with as to whether or not the Right Wing is sort of a religion.

- It has its sacred dogma ("Compassionate Conservatism"),
- its ruling hierarchy (The Bush Administration),
- its theologians (Pundits),
- its sacrificing priesthood (Politicians),
- its temples (think tanks),
- altars (places where right wing policies take effect),
- ritual victims (Iraqi civilians and the poor),
- acolytes and sacristans (Freepers and their ilk),
- congregations (all supporters of this administration) and
- its own unifying principle of sacramental "grace" (money).

Patrick Hynes, a Republican Consultant, has said that the Conservatives are no longer part of a movement, because Conservatism has degenerated into an extreme identity group. I think this post further confirms what Hynes is talking about here.
