Lieberman moves back to home town but no warm welcome
Lieberman gets a rude welcome

STAMFORD — It wasn't quite the welcome wagon for Sen. Joseph Lieberman at his new home in Stamford.

Anti-Iraq war protesters gathered outside the Hayes House condominium Tuesday afternoon to protest Lieberman's support for the war. Lieberman wasn't home at the time.

John Murphy, a member of Connecticut Opposes the War, , said they want his neighbors and others to tell Lieberman they're opposed to the war. He said it's a tactic they're going to use to try and get Lieberman to advocate removing U.S. troops out of Iraq.

"He is increasingly becoming isolated from his electorate. We find the best way to do it is to talk to his neighbors."

Lieberman, who announced in June he would be leaving New Haven to return to his hometown, purchased the two-bedroom condominium for $402,000 on the 10th floor of 12-story building at 44 Strawberry Hill in downtown Stamford a week earlier.

2. So why is he leaving New Haven?
Could it possibly be that he'd long ago worn out his welcome in the Elm City, the most progressive in the state? (it has in the past elected Green Party aldermen) Or is Stamford just closer to his corporate buddies?

3. I live 4 blocks from his former house in New Haven and I think he
did somewhat wear out his welcome, altho when I canvassed for Ned Lamont last year I encountered several ofhis neighbors who were congregants at his shull in Westville. They were still all for him, albeit because they knew him personally. I do wonder what they feel now.

Since he was from Stamford, I guess he can say he "came home." I don't much care since his record since his reelection speaks for itself.

Maybe he just likes being closer to New York and Washington. YOu know, the TV appearances...
