CSPAN - IRaq report by GEN. Richard Sherlock
he is giving the spin of his life, and damn he is good. Until you parse his words, you'd think we are being greeted by hugs and roses.

First, the GAO report is simply a limited pass/fail report. Whereas the White House Betrayus report will show a lot more. It will show the progress towards reaching a benchmark. for example Baghdad is already sharing some oil revenue with other regions.

The dancing on a head of a pin is truly amazing. He is gooooood at spin.

but his whole argument falls apart. the very idea that every Iraqi traveler has to be stopped and searched tell you what about the reality on the ground? It is a fucking quagmire. And his response to the really unfortunate arrest of Iranian contractors by US troops, (since released) was dissembling of a kind I had not seen since Reagan claimed to know nothing about IranContra.

this man is the administration's man, through and through. His talk today is the taste test for the crap we will be hearing starting Tuesday next.
