Just pick up and go. We can sleep in the streets if necessary. I am willing to see what dems decide on this but I would like to know if I'm off my rocker or how many are really willing to do such a thing.

They are going to Fort Worth this weekend for the republican straw poll (to demonstrate) and then on to DC. Boy I wish I could go with them.

6. Damn it. In the 60's people didn't starve, everyone fed one another.
Couldn't someone take care of them for a while?

13. clarification...
They could probably take care of themselves, but I still have to be able to pay the rent... let alone the cost of getting there from the west coast. It's just not feasable for most people, no matter how badly we want to go.

15. go and stay, staying is the hard part, getting there we can do.
Staying involves paying mortgage or rent when one gets home. 2 jobs for a while, maybe 3.

4. I think it'll take about three times as many as are registered on DU
in the streets, 24/7. That would do it.

5. If even a fraction of the registered members bought a copy of just ONE of my novels
I'd be able to afford the time off from my day job AND pay for the trip from the West Coast. In that case I'd not only go to DC, but I'd pitch in to make sure as many people as possible had food and water while there.

As things stand now, though, I can't afford the time off work.

I'm itching to do this. Did it in the '60's with two little kids (now in their '40s and think I'm nuts....).

23. I sometimes wonder
about the potential for a tent city, similar to what Martin planned in '68. Of course, that would result in people going to jail. And so I think the question is one of filling the jails, which is also something Martin recognized as sometimes necessary.

How many people would be willing to go to jail? For how long? Would they engage in real hunger strikes, rather than the imitations that a few activists have attempted to substitute in recent years?
