If you're a Dem and accused of an affair, which is 'always' morally reprehensible no matter what, you're guilty. If you deny it you're even guiltier, and if you fight it, you merit the Death Penalty.

If you're a Rethug and accused of an 'indiscretion' (the appropriate noun is never used) you're completely innocent. If you plead guilty, you 'regret' the plea and are thus innocent and a victim. If you go to jail, you've been sent to the Gulag because of your family-values politics.
