My LTTE to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune re: Larry Craig

To The Editor:

If, as Senator Larry Craig claims, he's innocent of the crime he pled guilty to (Idaho Sen. Craig pleads guilty in Minn. airport arrest), I believe he should be allowed to withdraw his guilty plea and return for a full trial at which ALL the facts can be brought forward for public review.

That being said, Senator Craig is a busy public official, and can't be expected to drop everything for such a small matter. I understand that the Senator may have reason to be in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area next September; perhaps the trail could be scheduled then?

2. As a matter of fact, didn't he say that he wishes he hadn't entered a plea of guilty...

...and that he did not have benefit of counsel at the time? I'm with you. Let's give Larry a do-over and have all of the sleazy, disgusting facts of his airport restroom behavior presented in a very public, very protracted jury trial.

are going to be awfully busy in Mpls/St Paul (and the surrounding suburbs) next September.
