CURIOSITIES and THEORIES About The Gonzo "Resignation"
Edited on Mon Aug-27-07 09:20 AM by Beetwasher
List them here!

Why finally resign at all?

If he resigned on Friday, why wait to announce today, this news seems tailor-made for a Fri. dump? Do they know something else is coming down this week to knock if off the front pages? Do they want to knock something off the front pages w/ THIS?

I think something very big is coming down the pike, or perhaps several things. If you thought things were interesting before, I have a feeling we ain't seen nuthin' yet.

Are the NON-Cheneyites (Rove, Gonzo) getting out before the monster (Dick) attacks Iran?

So many questions!

2. I suspect they avoided Fri. to stay off the Sunday shows!
It's WAY too big a story to get lost in a Fri. dump, and at least they managed to hold off until Shrub was on vacation! I'm sure he's hoping a few garbled words from Crawford will suffice, and Gonzo will be gonzo by the time he returns to the WH.

3. Convergence of disaster.
We were closing in on him, but the attack on Iran is going to change everything, and he'll be simply forgotten.

9. Perhaps a calculated move
to get scandals swept away and forgotten in time for the next presidential election. Time for Congress to move on, stop wasting time on investigations, focus on protecting the American people, war on terror, yada, yada, yada.

15. Thanks. And I'm sure Colbert would have planned a "tribute."
What you say occured to me. My thought when I heard the announcement, was to wonder what the Daily Show would do with this. Then I said "Shit! Stewart's on vacation -- reruns," then I said, "Ah -haaa!"

16. Bushite scandals are so profound, if disclosed, they would destroy the foundation of legitimacy
of the United States government, including the presidency and congress (also the supreme court). So some deals are going on, to cover up the worst of it--to protect the principles (Bush, Cheney) and glide over the rest. Primary among the motives of the deal-makers is to protect the war profiteer/global corporate predator control of policy, so that the fleecing of ordinary U.S. taxpayers and citizens in general can continue unchecked by the already VERY angry American people, and to prevent an untimely attack on Iran, by a cornered Cheney, with zero cannon fodder available and an extremely bad international situation, which could see serious retribution (possibly including military action) by China, Russia, India and other countries.*

The heart of the scandal is not so much what the Bushites have done with their illegitimate and mandate-less power, as how they stayed in power in 2004. In October 2002, the Anthrax Congress passed the Iraq War Resolution (IWR), and, in the same month, they passed the so-called "Help America Vote Act" (sc/HAVA). The two are closely related. IWR guaranteed unjust war, while sc/HAVA provided the means by which to shove this unjust war down the throats of the American people, by fast-tracking non-transparent, highly insecure and insider hackable electronic voting systems all over the country, run on 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, owned and controlled by rightwing Bushite corporations, in time for the 2004 election. This astonishing destruction of our election system was kept well under the radar of the American people, was backed by both parties, and has involved widespread corruption (a $3.9 billion electronic voting boondoggle, with state matching requirements--bilking both levels of taxpayers--for pieces-of-crap voting machinery with high cost on-going maintenance requirements, and absolute secrecy as to the inside workings of these machines in tabulating our votes). One insider hacker, a couple of minutes, and thousands of votes can be changed, without detection, here, there or anywhere in the country, or all over the country. Two corporations (Diebold and ES&S) with very close ties to the Republican Party and far rightwing causes, 'counted' 80% of the nation's votes in 2004, on these untested systems, with virtually no audit/recount controls. (No ballot TO recount in many states; and only a 1% check--very inadequate--in the best states.)

This system was. made. to. order. for. election. fraud.

And that's what occurred. A Kerry win (confirmed by the exit polls) would have been a Peoples' win (a "throw the bums out" win). Diebold/ES&S flipped it over into a Bush 'win.' (The exit polls were then--late in the day--doctored by the corporate news monopolies to conform to the results of Diebold/ES&S's secret formulae.)

This non-transparent, "trade secret" vote tabulation system is STILL IN PLACE. There is hardly a critter in Congress who can prove that he/she was actually elected. This system is WHY we have 70% of the American people opposed to the Iraq War and wanting it ended, yet a recently (s)elected, so-called 'Democratic' Congress doing just the opposite: ESCALATING the war and giving Bush/Cheney $100 billion MORE of our money to keep killing Iraqis until they sign over their oil rights.

The "trade secret" programming code system, in Karl Rove's hands, is the deep dark secret, and scandal of government illegitimacy, that likely lurks in Rove's RNC emails. And some of the more serious crimes of the Bush Junta, related to elections, and related to the war--which were made possible by an entirely non-transparent, fraudulent, and illegitimate election system--are why Gonzo is gone, Rove is gone and Rumsfeld is gone. They felt IMMUNE to ANY accountability, and ran rampant--with torture for fun and profit, massive domestic spying, massive unaccountable looting of off-the-books military and 'secret government' funds, and looting and destruction of important federal agencies.

It is WHY they felt free to do these things that is the scandal that the Democratic leadership feels the need to cover up, because the Democratic Party leadership is deeply involved in the scandal of non-transparent elections. And the deals they are making--which some of them likely believe are in the interests of the country (to maintain stability)--have involved no impeachment for the Bushite principles in exchange for no attack on Iran (and getting rid of Rumsfeld), and immunity for the principles on domestic spying and other crimes (the reason for D support of the FISA bill). Our Democratic Party leadership is very corrupt (i.e., the "military-industrial complex" and global corporate predator rule) and very compromised. Their "not enough votes" for impeachment and for stopping the war is by design. Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, Gonzales and a number of others OF COURSE should facing impeachment and also federal prosecution. The election system that kept them in power is the SAME election system that shaped this Congress in such a way that it COULD NOT do the will of the people.

------------------------------------------------

*(The attack on Iran has to be better prepared and may, in fact, be impossible--and that would have many different ripple effects on U.S. global corporate predator policy, the most obvious being: where else to steal oil from? The GCPs have been priming us for war in South America--particularly against the Andes democracies--Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, rich in oil, gas, minerals, forests, fresh water and other resources. A Bush/U.S. covert war is in progress, based in Colombia. The leftist democracy movement in South America is very strong, with leftist (majorityist) governments in Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile and Nicaragua, and big leftist movements also in Paraguay, Peru and Mexico. (Leftists might even win this September in ravaged Guatemala.) Likely Bushite plans for South America will not succeed. And a wilier U.S. foreign policy will be needed--both in the Middle East and South America--to serve global corporate predator ends. Until the American people restore transparent vote counting in the U.S., our policy will continue to serve those interests--either by blunt force, or by more clever, Clintonite means, but it will not serve us, nor poor people anywhere.)

18.  Why do I get the feeling things will get worse
Bush has already expressed it was a political bashing that caused Gonzo to leave , politics created by the Dems .

Looking back each time someone is replaced the next one in line is even worse , now who ever they pick will not only be worse but more calculating and dangerous . Chertoff seems top be the pick at this point and he is more dangerous than Gonzo . This Johnson the III sounds like another bush buddy from the deep dark past .

Let the eagle fly guy was a sick fellow but he seemed at least not in defense of spying .

I think this has alot to do with steering the attention away from bush and cheney and the neocons agenda .

I still don't think this admin is giving up easy if at all , we will see , who can predict anything these days .

21. Whack-a-mole again: get all outrage focused on one person, then that person removed from view
The Bushies have done it with Rummy, Rove, and Ashcroft before. Sometimes they resign, and sometimes they just suddenly stop getting publicity.

With Bush's poll numbers so low, it won't have the desired effect even though the MSM will probably pretend like some crisis is over.
