Excuse me, I'd like to buy your B-52

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A wealthy Russian tried to buy a U.S. B-52 bomber from a group of shocked American pilots at an airshow near Moscow, a Russian newspaper reported Friday.

The unidentified Russian, wearing sunglasses and surrounded by bodyguards, approached the U.S. delegation and asked to buy the bomber, the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper said.

An astounded member of the U.S. delegation said the bomber was not for sale but that it would cost at least $500 million if it were to be sold on the spot.

1. LOL
Well, if you were commuting in a B-52 and somebody cut you off, you could carpet bomb the shit out of them instead of just giving them the finger.

2. I wonder what
someone would want to use something like that for? Oh, I know, must be for transportation, ya, that's it transportation, that way they don't have to depend on an airline schedule. Did he mention that he wanted the bomb sight left in there, you know for something to play with while on those long trips?

6. Hey, the B-52's a classic.
It's the airborne equivalent of a '57 Chevy - one of those aircraft that are timeless. I actually can believe that wealthy aircraft enthusiasts would try to acquire them.

Most of the B-52s made are already mothbolled or scrapped - only a few dozen still fly. There's one on static display at the air and space museum in Denver on the old Lowry Air Force grounds. That same museum also had a flight-ready F-14 Tomcat, just before they were retired, reportedly one of the F-14s that was used in the movie Top Gun. They also had a B-1A (yes, A, not B - one of the prototypes) bomber, a whole bunch of WWII, Korean and Vietnam war era fighters. Very neat place.

8. We offered some squids a chest of Pork Steaks for their S-2
during the meat shortage of 1974.
We should have thrown in a pony keg.
I'd be riding in style right now.
