(Both of these candidates are not judged by what they support but rather what the public eye associates them with. Giuliani = protection. Clinton = Good Economy. Both Fantasy)

Democrats like Hillary, but Giuliani has wider appeal
LA Times-Washington PostPosted online
Saturday, August 25, 2007

Clinton acceptable to 47% Democrats, only 19% Republicans like Clinton

Los Angeles, Aug 24: Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is a political powerhouse in her own party but Rudy Giuliani is far more palatable to voters across the board, according to one of the largest voter surveys done on the 2008 field. Clinton bridles at the notion that she’s a polarising candidate, but the poll of 3,000 registered voters by the Pew Research Centre released on Thursday did little to counter that perception.

A whopping 88 per cent of Democrats have a favourable impression of the former first lady — and nearly four in 10 Democrats have a very favourable impression of her, by far the highest rate for any candidate. But 81 per cent of Republicans don’t like Clinton — with only 19 per cent expressing approval. By contrast, Giuliani fares relatively well with Democrats, earning a 47 per cent favourable rating.

While 84 per cent of GOP voters like him, party stalwarts are still sceptical, with only 21 per cent of Republicans saying they strongly support him. Clinton is tied with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney with the highest negative rating at 45 per cent. Giuliani’s disapproval number is up to 35 per cent.

Carroll Doherty, the poll’s associate director, says Republican primary voters are generally positive about Giuliani but not bowled over. “There’s an intensity gap in their support,” Doherty said. “It’s not news that Hillary is such a polarising figure, but it’s surprising that Democrats are so enthusiastic about her. ... With Rudy, voters are generally positive but the intensity’s not there. It’s quite a gap.”

Democrats Barack Obama and John Edwards both do better than Clinton on overall favourability, at 64 and 61 percent, respectively, but lack the support she garners among party stalwarts.

6. I've talked to a LOT of people about Giuliani, most of them dems or to the left
almost ALL of them think Giuliani did a 'great job' after 911, and think he's just swell

sad but true. just hope and pray that the media will do their part in exposing HIMSELF as the craven weasel he is

just like they did with Bush in 99-2000

right?

11. yeah, I'm serious. these people, while left, don't pay attention to things on a
regular basis, and their only impression of Rudy is from the immediate post 911 days

they're starting to wise up, but I wish I'd had a camera on the eyeballs of many of those people when I started in on just how venal he was then, how badly he lied to first responders, how he LIED to the 911 commission, how he had CROOKS like Kerik working for him.

not one person could identify Kerik, btw

Then elected Bloomberg.

Maybe someone should ask the millions of liberals in NYC.

I cannot seem to convince her otherwise. I can only hope that, whomever our nominee is, the Republicans do not nominate Giuliani.

36. yes
I think I will compile some articles and threads from here and send them to her, if she is still determined to vote for him. Of course she lives in upstate NY so it may not matter, since that state is as Democratic as Texas is Republican. I doubt her or my vote will really count. That's what bothers me most about the Electoral College System.

20. Do any of them say they'll vote for him?
Because I don't denigrate anything he did on 9/11, and I was happy with his performance in the week or so afterward, too, until I learned the scope of the air quality problem. And that he hasn't personally made sure that our first responders were completely covered medically.

People can say anything. But Giuliani can't deliver New York. And firefighters hate his guts so much that they will dog his steps all over the country.

27. No Way In Hell, They Hate Him
Let's see his history: pro-gay, anti-gay, pro-choice, dresses in drag, married to his cousin, married three times, had his wife sleep downstairs so that his mistress could sleep with him upstairs...

As for the rest of us, he is a loser, a big one. He can't answer one question.

28. When Giuliani left his Mayoral position, he got involved in investment firms.
When Giuliani decided to run for president he sold his DEFENSE investment firm.

He made a mint selling an investment firm to an Australian company name The Macquarie Group, (a company who leases U.S. toll roads).

Rudy the tycoon made tens of millions of dollars off of one of the world's largest toll road conglomerates. We could only imagine how many public highways will be converted to toll roads leased by foreign investment firms if Rudy becomes our President.

I can’t help but think that maybe Bloomberg’s new proposal to charge an $8.00 toll to ease congestion in Manhattan, has something to do with this one way or another.

It's so funny too, just how low the republicans have lowered the bar..Three times married...living
with one woman while married to another; and if he's pretending to be a christian, he's more of a hypocrite. He's definitely not a family man. So what's so appealing about him?

30. I believe that about Giuliani.
I've encountered several people who would vote for him - including Dems playing the "what if I had to vote GOP" game. Unfortunately, the general public sees him as the Savior of 9/11, not the ruthless, lying, cheating, scheming bastard he is.

For once, the Dem party will HAVE to come out, blasting the public with the truth, if he should indeed become their nominee.

35. And the reason that 88% have a
favourable opinion is because they know a fighter and a winner when they see one. Hell, we are tired of losing and if that is what the dems wish to do again in november of 08 then let obama or edwards be the choice. I doubt serious either will be....If your hatred of HRC was based on something tangible, we supporters of HRC could fight it. If HRC was simply not the choice of Democrats - fine, we'll get behind someone else. But Democrats are pro-suicide at every opportunity. The Hillary haters are determined to destroy our best chance to win.

I do thank you
Ben David
