About the country music thread: You will never hear songs like this again
because the repuke bastards will never allow it. Real country music has been destroyed on the corporate radio stations, and should now be called redneck rock.

1. Exactly.
It is no longer the narrative of the country...only that of the complacent that suck the soul out of the music.

That song has soul, the country's soul...hence the country in the music.

2. I can't even tell the difference between country and pop...
when I hear it on the radio, I have to ask my wife which genre it's supposed to be.

7. I loved CW music
Before I retired I had a radio on my desk that played country music all day and I loved it. But when people like Toby Keith started their type of music and the performers (to sell discs) donned fatigues and pretended they were chasing terrorist I was apalled and vowed never to listen again. Especially when Reba McEntire made fun of the Dixie Chicks. It told me that CW had lost it's class. I programed out Life Channel because it shows her show.

8. I have a solution for you:
The Dexateens. They ain't all country, but when they whip out that pedal steel, a tear is gonna come to your eye.

Music that the corporate media, ratings be damned. will never allow to be heard.

12. Jesse Dayton - Dope Smoking Song
Well Willie got high on the whitehouse roof
and old Merle Haggard likes to smoke that hooch
There's a tale or two about old Jerry Lee

My favorite country singer is Johnny Cash
And back in '68 he liked to smoke that hash
So if it's ok by June, I guess it's alright by me.

So let's all get stoned
And listen to George Jones
WE'll be higher than a hippy on a helicopter ride
Roll up your home grown
and sing a honky-tonk song
You sing the low part and I'll sing mine high

That old draft beer will make you cry
and good corn liqour makes you bow up and fight
Jose Cuervo you are no friend of mine.

But I like the smell and I like the taste
Of a big old fatty stuff right in my face
So if you got it, smoke it, and send it on down the line

--------------------------

The christian right will never own country music.
