Amanpour's special on God's Warriors and Christianity...
did you see it? I'm watching it on rerun right now. She had a segment on this guy who is called a heretic by the likes of those who populate the Christian Conservative movement. Greg Boyd has placed his sermons on-line for download. I want to hear more about what he is teaching since it serves as a balance for all the radical crap that comes out of churches these days.

http://www.whchurch.org/content/page_726.htm

"Greg's book, The Myth of a Christian Nation is based on a sermon series titled The Cross and the Sword. In the book and sermon series, he argues from Scripture and history that whenever the church gets too close to any political or national ideology, it is disastrous for the church and harmful to society."

1. Yeah..............
It's too bad this isn't given more attention. These wingnuts frighten me. They are entirely unreasonable as to the question of human origins and the geological history of the Earth.

3. I've been watching the series the last few days - its well done!
And yes, I saw the part about the Christian Minister by the name of Greg Boyd. I found him to be very interesting - educated at Yale Divinity School, Princeton and former Professor of Theology. Found his calling at age 17 as a born-again christian and then decided after being a Prof, to become a Minister of his own congregation. Apparentely he lost about 25% of his congregation when he started preaching that politics and christianity don't mix and that Jesus and the Bible don't teach hate and declaring certain sins worse than others (ie. why is homosexuality worse than Greed, Glutony or Infidelity?)

I would love to hear his sermons too and find out more about this man....I hope he represents the hope that there are Christians out there that won't all fall for the garbage coming from the Ministers who preach hate and judgement.

4. Watched this series all week, and as an atheist
it's a very interesting take on the world's religions. I've also been watching a program on the history channel about Muslims and Christianity. It's most interesting, to someone who doesn't have a player in the game, to see how their different "hate" views are justified by something a bunch of men wrote down years, and years ago as "gospel" and yet humans feel some kind of lacking in their own self that they need justification for their evil, evil deeds. Oh, it also gives good cover for cleaning out the unsaved (or the unlike "US").
