"Laura "Crazy Eyes" Bush Imports Compliant Tennessee Child for Austin, Texas Library Opening"

First lady Laura Bush, right, appears at the Westbank Community Library with Reese Phinney, left, Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, in Austin, Texas. Mrs. Bush, a former librarian and school teacher, is a longtime book and reading advocate, and will have a library named in her honor after it is constructed. She visited the Westbank Library for the dedication and signed the children's book that will be the first in the new facility that will be named in her honor. Reese, 5, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hartley Phinney, of Franklin, Tennessee. She is the granddaughter of the head librarian at Westbank, Beth Fox. (AP Photo/Harry Cabluck)

Anybody who knows anything about Austin surely knows that the majority of its citizens are probably less than thrilled at the idea of a library named after the insane spouse of the stupidest man to ever run this country. Fortunately for Crazy Eyes, an extensive search finally turned up some parents willing to place their child within reach of Ms. Bush's greedy talons and incisors. Careful, young'un! Oh, who am I kidding; that child is already 3/4 of the way through the First Lady's digestive tract.

Funny how no one is "blonde" in that photograph.

5. Indeed, I want to hold my breath passing thru Williamson County from Maury on the way to Nashvegas.
Afraid I'll be pulled over for being poor in Franklin or Cool Springs!

8. I figure I get pegged as "the help" when I go there.
Franklin and Brentwood have a weird up-scale urban sprawl feeling to 'em. Creepy.

6. I would NEVER matronize ANY facility with her--or his-name on it, just like I have never used
john wayne airport--and refuse to drive on the section of I-25 named after ronnie ray-gun.

10. i think people are being unfair
Libraries are great places for children to learn. Regardless of who the library is named for.

BTW, Laura Bush isn't president. And probably has no say on any issue (not that her husband does, either).

If her pet cause is reading and libraries, well, you could pick a lot of worse causes out there.

Cut her some slack on this.

15. What's interesting, is she is described as a reading "advocate"
As if she needs to speak out for people who want to read, as if there are those who are not in favor of reading :)

17. i think you'd be shocked, not at the number of people who are not in favor of reading
but the number of people who think they can go through their daily life without having to.

How many people read a book a week nowadays?

How many people have even been to a library in the last two years?

I think you would find the numbers surprising.

I think that's all she's getting at.

Children need to read more. That's what being an advocate of reading is all about. Open a book and shut off the x-box for a while.

Regardless of how horrid her husband is, that's a good message.

18. I haven't noticed a shortage of adorable tykes in the Lone Star State.
Why do they need to resort to outsourcing from cronies? :)
