The guy covering for Ed Schultz today-- is Bill Press a liar, or just a lazy asshole?

I may have had disagreements with Big Eddie, but at least Eddie never showed a reckless disregard for the truth the way the guy covering for him is doing.

He's been playing part of a clip of Obama's wife, and claiming she was attacking Hillary. Then, when a caller phoned-in and told him about the 50 words she said BEFORE and AFTER the clip, the Bill Press didn't even CARE. "Well, that's the clip I was given, so that's the clip I was talking about."

Press was given the rest of the story, and didn't CARE to change his tune one single bit.

Was she attacking Hillary? Maybe, maybe not.

But I do know this-- listening to the eight seconds of audio before the beginning of the clip, and the ten seconds after the clip, that the media has been playing, changes the context a lot, and makes it sound a lot less like an attack on Hillary.

Ed Schultz may be a lot of things, but at least he is not a LIAR.

Is Bill Press either dishonest or lazy or both?

13. usally goes hand-in-hand with Clinton's media backers, too
so it's no surprise

Press was hired by CNN to take the left seat on Crossfire and upon announcing his taking the job, rather than say he was going to argue issues from the progressive side, he said he coming on to defend the Clinton agenda. So we got shows with both hosts baqcking NAFTAA, GATT, welfare reform, DOMA, etc

Oh, I can't wait to turn the party back over to this crowd when Hillary gets the nomination. Who needs Howard Dean and the netroots when you have Press, Carville, Lani Davis, McAulliffe and crew.

Who knows? Maybe we'll get really lucky and they'll hire Dick Morris to decide policy again!

5. I never knew BP to be a liar. He's too wishy-washy for me, but
I've listened to his show quite a few times and I can't describe him as a liar. More like a middle of the road whimp I think. Big Eddie Show doesn't come on the station I listen to until 3PM EST.

8. Bill Press is a giant bag of douche
Here's the poll on his site:

Michelle has come out saying family comes first, before the country (it is also being seen as a slam against Hillary Clinton). {Some people say?} Her husband, the presidential candidate Barack Obama has painted himself as a 'uniter.' Does this hurt his image?

*

31.6% - Yes - He and everyone involved with him should be positve
*

63.2% - No - he has to make some gains. It IS politics, after all.
*

5.3% - It doesn't matter, I'm voting for John McCain.

9. I have heard the quote, and it seems to me, that it is not a slam
at Hillary, but rather some of the repub's who are running (i.e. Guiliani, Gingrich, etc.)

As far as Press goes, I think he has been in the Clinton camp for awhile, though I haven't heard him take a shot at any of the candidates. I do listen to a portion of his show in the morning.

For me it's a choice between BP, a lot of right wing hacks, and ESPN radio in the morning.

11. Bill Press supports Hillary. He discloses it when he's on CNN or MSNBC
when he comes on as a Talking Head Dem. He's been more upfront in disclosing his support for her than any of the others...

Then Bill Press is a Liar.

22. I would pay $4.95 per month to listen to a Mark Maron podcast.
Then, I could toss my XM Radio into the trash, and just listen to MaronCasts and StephCasts all day.

XM has completely fucked-up their coverage of Air America Radio, which was already damn near mortally screwed-up to begin with.

XM has buried Thom Hartman and put Ed Schultz on in his place, for crap's sake.

Thom Hartman, Randi Rhodes, and Rachel Maddow are the only good daily broadcasts left on Air America, and XM has gone and screwed-up one of them.

Anyway, here's an idea:

I'm going to contact Mark Maron, and ask him how much money he would need to do a daily Podcast.

Then, I'm going to start collecting names of people who would be willing to pay $4.95 per month to listen to Mark Maron every day.

When I have enough names to pay his salary, I will report back to Mr. Maron, and give him his subscriber list.

He can just sit in his kitchen with a microphone, in his underpants, and rant, without the support of a producer or researcher, for three hours a day, and it would be more interesting, more informed, and more entertaining than anything Ed Schultz has to offer.

24. I like your idea. Perhaps Maron's cats could produce the show.
Air America Minnesota is dreadful. The only show I listen to locally is Stephanie Miller. Because of Ed Schultz's newer time slot, all of the other programs are delayed. Even through I have a local AAR affiliate, I have to stream the shows I want to hear.

5:00 a.m.The Bill Press Show

8:00 a.m. The Stephanie Miller Show

11:00 a.m. The Ed Schultz Show

2:00 p.m.The Thom Hartmann Program

5:00 p.m.The Mark Heaney Show

7:00 p.m.The Rachel Maddow Show

9:00 p.m.The Randi Rhodes Show

IanDB1, you pass the hat and I'll toss in the bucks for Maron. My mornings just aren't the same without Maron's manic streams of consciousness.

21. Bill Press claims to be a staunch environmentalist,
yet he's a spokesman for Cadillac SUVs on his terrible morning show. This guy LOVES Hillary and especially Nancy Pelosi - you can almost hear him wet his pants whenever he mentions her name. Press is a middle of the middle of the roader, and of course, as someone more astute than I once said, "the only thing you find in the middle of the road is a double yellow line and a dead armadillo."

23. Ed Schultz advertises bigass Global Warming trucks and SUVs. But I can kinda forgive him for that...
since he's supposed to be a sort of Liberal Redneck from America's heartland who goes hunting and fishing and does manly manly things that don't necessarily mean he has a small penis.

People who live out in the woods and mountains have legitimate need for trucks and SUVs.

People who just need to ferry their little yuppiespawn to dance recitals in the suburbs generally do not.

25. What about the Edwardses as possibly MO's target?
After looking at what Michelle Obama said in the widely quoted paragraph, I was struck by her example of how the Obamas showed their commitment to family values and to the children. She only does day trips so that she can be at home in the mornings to get her girls off to school and be back at home in the evenings in time to tuck them into bed. No mention of infidelity, improper sexual behavior, multiple marriages, or any of the other things that would point at Clinton or at the various GOP candidates.

So if their young children staying at home and her returning home each night is the good example, what would be the contrasting "bad" family values behavior? Both parents away overnight leaving the young children at home or bringing the young children along on the campaign. Well who is doing that other than John Edwards, Obama's biggest immediate threat? Possibly Dodd, but I don't know what he is doing in this area.

Since this is apparently part of Michelle's regular stump speech where little would be left to chance, the lead-in sentences of the paragraph seem a bit strange, particularly the part about "run your own house" (not _home_) as an indicator of whether someone shares your values. Since that section had caused me to thing about Edwards, I started considering why.

I know enough about psycholinguistic programming (or NLP) that the two uses of "house" in one sentence seemed likely triggers, given the widespread attacks on Edwards as being an elitest with the extravagant "house" who doesn't share the values of real Americans.

Maybe just a coincidence and not consciously done. But we do know that things like this are regularly used in advertising and in campaigns.

Hillary's "I'm your girl!" quote is an interesting example, with her using it in 2006 and recently. First, the word "girl" softens her slightly and helps make her seem less threatening. Then, it makes it harder for a man to have a quick response, certainly not "I'm your boy!" (particularly in the case of Obama given how loaded "boy" is). An "I'm your man" type response is about all that would be available.

Now where did I leave my tinfoil.
