Pab in the hospital, update 2.

I just did a quick entry at my new blog (http://cnx.com) bringing those readers up to date, and wanted to pass on the news.

I did talk the doctors out of doing a full colostomy, instead just draining the one abcess they could see clearly. This has helped my pain immensely, relieved a lot of my other symptoms, and stopped the spasming. My temperature is approaching normal, as is my white count, so I may have dodged the bullet for now.

I will still need to undergo an operation when I am stronger and better situated for it to remove the damaged parts of my colon, but at least if I'm healthier when they start that procedure, the faster I'll heal from it, and the less likely there will be permanent damage.

I remain in the hospital, a full 12 days later, but in better spirits than I started with and a slightly rosier outlook, at least on the health side.

Of course, I'll have a full diatribe coming about what works and what doesn't in modern hospitals when all is said and done, but for now I need to go lie back down. Thanks, DU, for all the prayers, positive energy, and thoughts you've sent me this week.
