Why do Republicans in general, and the Bush Crime Family specifically, so deeply despise living, actual children? Forming fetuses and zygotes and fertilized ova are fawned over, named ("Snowflakes," the "un-born," and my fave, "pre-humans") but real kids are, at best, seen as an occasional campaign issue or, if they are unfortunate enough to have been born in a country such as Iraq or Afghanistan, "collateral damage" when the bombs turn them to red mist or unidentifiable pieces scattered in what used to be their homes?

But, I digress.

Here at home, God's country, pre-Fascist Bushworld, the most corrupt administration in modern history continues its fight to stop states from expanding the popular Children’s Health Insurance Program - a program that provides health insurance, for a fee, to kids who otherwise are out of the health care loop entirely. It's tough, dirty work, stopping health care for these little rug-rats, but, by God, someone has got to do it. Toward this goal, the Bush Crime Family - self-defined as believing oh-so-passionately in the majesty and love of Jesus Christ who said a bit about children being the essence of the Kingdom - has adopted new standards that would make it much more difficult for states to extend coverage to children in middle-income families.

According to today's New York Times, " . . . after learning of the new policy, some state officials said yesterday that (the new rules) could cripple their efforts to cover more children and would impose standards that could not be met. 'We are horrified at the new federal policy,' said Ann Clemency Kohler, deputy commissioner of human services in New Jersey. 'It will cause havoc with our program and could jeopardize coverage for thousands of children.' "

The Congressional Budget Office has said that the Bush/Republican budget, which seeks $30 billion for the program from 2008 to 2012, is not enough to pay for current levels of enrollment, much less to cover children who are eligible but not enrolled.

The rest of this sickening story can be found online at the Times web site, not far from another story that reveals the Bush Crime Family's plan - this time working through a completely corrupted and leaderless Pentagon - that is offering tens of thousands of bonus dollars to any fool who will sign up to join Bush's train-wrecked military. Convicted felon? No problem, soldier. Moral turpitude? Hey, what's a little petty theft or rape conviction. That civilian shit doesn't count in This Man's Army. Gimme your signature, boy. We're gonna make a hero out of you. And a Christian Hero at that!

And Pelosi and Reid say impeachment is off the table.

Could he be picking on her because she's old? When Willie was still with us Cosmo, Screech, and Skid always went after him. It made me so mad when the bullied him. Milo would knock him down, but he just wanted to lay with him. Peanut was the only one who didn't go after him in any way. If one of the kitties was in the hallway, Willie would cry for us to escort him to the kitchen.

if they sensed some kind of weakness in him?? That was very mean of Simon. He's so alpha.

LuLu minds her own business but he has to stick his nose in everything. She made several laps around the litter box and he was watching her. Then he saw her peeing on the plastic. It was like that really "pissed" him off, no pun intended. Then I heard the hissing and screaming when he went after her on her stool. Little Sesame came running.

I think LuLu is trying to tell me now that she's not feeling very well. I'll get blood work next week and the vet can tell me if it's time.

oh no. She can't die. She has to live forever.

107. I think they did sense weakness. When he, Skid and Screech first

came to live with us, Cosmo was actually afraid of Willie. And I can't think of any other explanation for the hostility displayed by Skid and Screech because they'd lived with him since they were kittens. I know how you feel, so many times we'd thought Willie was a goner and he bounced back he had an air of invinciblity about him that it hurt so hard to let him go. I still question the decision sometimes. Don't you wish she could tell you herself so you'd know for sure? :hug:

Not that it's not worth it, but $50 kinda surprises me. I never had the LP (I don't think), just the CD. Did you happen to see "I'm Your Man?" I haven't yet, but from what I can tell, Jennifer Warnes wasn't in it and I wonder why?

168. The best pressing of Famous Blue Raincoat (Canadian I think) was a highly sought after

audiophile recording for years. This certain pressing absolutely destroyed the regular pressing and the CD. Of course, any decent LP played on a high end turntable will destroy your average CD/CD player. Most music lovers today don't know that though, and they want the convenience of CD or downloaded music. I'm guilty of that myself for most listening, but when I want to hear the good shit.....I fire up the high end turntable and play vinyl.
