Will the repubs IMMEDIATELY start impeaching the next D pres.?
You know, like they did to President Bill Clinton, as soon as he took office, bob barr began a fishing expedition with a blank articles of impeachment all set to go for any little discrepancy that might appear, and it was a total hard on for impeachment until it happened in an orgasmic republican orgy of humiliation and personal attacks.

Will they do it again?

You bet. They LOVE to impeach presidents.

10. The pub plan appears to be to try that again - the ultimate in obstructionism -
tie up your opponents for years by burying their leadership in a legal morass. Make this your top agenda item before actual governing becomes and issue. Keep it in the news, on page one, and keep the press releases rolling. In four years run another doltish moran who will let RW think tanks fronted by corporations run the country.

2. On what grounds could they impeach ...
Edited on Tue Aug-21-07 04:06 AM by NanceGreggs
... that haven't already been carried out by this administration?

"He lied us into war?"

"He acted beyond the four corners of the Constitution?"

"He declared himself above the law?"

"He refused to be accountable for his actions?"

"He ran up the nation's debt to unprecedented heights?"

"He condoned torture?"

"He ignored the Geneva Conventions?"

"He distanced us from our traditional allies?"

"He refused to be subject to the checks and balances inherent in our country's framework?"

"He misled the public?"

"He ignored the line between church and state?"

"He awarded no-bid government contracts to corporations owned by his family and friends?"

"He spent more time on vacation than any other president in history?"

"He borrowed more money than all other presidents combined?"

"He appointed incompetent cronies to important positions?"

"He did nothing other than pose for photo-ops as we lost an American city to a natural disaster?"

Let's face it, the GOP are now totally out of reasonable arguments to impeach anyone.

Even the ol' sexual deviance while on the job excuse is down the drain after Foley, Vitter, Allen, et al.

If the GOP ever plan on impeaching another president, they're going to have to come up with something -- anything! -- that BushCo hasn't already done and gotten away with. Good luck finding something.

3. Like they need a reason.
What grounds? I'm sure they'll find some. And I'm sure they'll whine like stuck pigs about a president with TOO MUCH POWER, who is above the law.

4. Oh, I have no doubt they'll whine ...
... but it's kind of hard to try to impeach on grounds that you supported when it was one of your own.

No, I think they've painted themselves into a corner on this one -- unless, of course, they accuse the next president of having sexual relations with an alien from a hostile, America-hating planet, which is the only thing Bush hasn't done -- well, at least as far as we're aware.

11. well if it's Hillary Clinton
they won't need to do much of a fishing expedition - they just have to pull out everything they have from the Big Dog days

being at war or not having the votes won't stop them

13. Ony if it involves a blowjob.
Although Bush/Cheney giving a good fuckin' to us and the rest of the world didn't warrant impeachment.

already have the game won before they played the opposing underdog team, would you be concerned?

As far as answering your question, yes!

15. They'll try, but it will be hard for them to get traction
If they don't have congress, it won't work like it did with Clinton.
