Bumper stickers & currency: a vacation tale
Edited on Mon Aug-20-07 01:28 PM by woodsprite
All the way down to NC and back I only saw 2 political bumper stickers. One car (Lexus) sported a Romney 2008 sticker, the other was "Richard M. Nixon - Now more than ever" that was plastered on a beat up Ford. OK, would someone please explain the Nixon one to me? He's dead, and he was a crook too. Is this a repub who longs for the good old days or was it a dem who wanted to point out that the current pres is even MORE of a crook than that previous one. Hubby and I were puzzled over that, then decided not to waste our beautiful minds on such nonsense. Instead, I concentrated on letting "George" and "Abraham" spread the word up/down the coast. ;)

Speaking of currency, my MIL actually sent me email while I was away trying to get me to reject any of the new dollar coins because they took off "In God We Trust". I told her I won't reject using them for that, my reason is that sharpies rub off coins and you can fit much more text around the edge of a paper bill. I *WOULD* reject using them if they had the lil emperor's picture stamped on it, but unlike her, I have no need to wear my religion on my currency.

All in all, it was a good vaca. My daughter and I were all set to tally bumperstickers, and were REALLY disappointed. :(

1. In god we trust wasn't taken off
It's on the edge. Check snopes and other sources.

2. I remember a bumper sticker several years after Nixon resigned..
Fairly sure it was during a presidential campaign.

Richard M Nixon, he's tanned, he's rested, he's ready..

I think both it and the one you saw are satire.
