Is Ron Paul the republican's Perot/Nader?
I think millions of disgruntled or ubergruntled republicans are going to 'throw away their votes' for the seemingly different Ron Paul.

It could have the same effect that Perot and Nader have had in past elections, sucking away the chances of a sure thing, and diluting the numbers.

1. Oh please let it be so.
His less palatable (to liberals) views will only make him more attractive to the xenophobes in the RW.

It's a nice thought with which to start the week. :-) MKJ

2. I think Paul may be the proto-type of the GOP
in a decade. A hybrid of a moderate-libertarian coalition. The Reagan/Neocon/Fundie Christian strain will be excised, since they will be blamed if 08 turns into a massacre of Republicans. It won't be Southern-regional party, otherwise it will not get funds from donors. Of course if it does stay the in its present course, then the GOP will go the way of the Whigs.

3. He Wouldn't Even Get The Half Percent Buchanan Ran Running As Indy
And Buchanan was a well known political figure...

Even if he ran on the Liberterian ticket he would get less than one percent of the vote...He's not even a liberterian but a Republican with some antique views on military and foreign policy...
