Race hate attack on Jewish teen (Australia)
TWO men with baseball bats beat a teenage Orthodox Jew outside a Melbourne restaurant in a racist attack overnight, Jewish leaders said today.

The boy, Alon Tam, said the two men yelled “f---ing Jew, you deserve to die,” as they bashed him with the bats near Mister Glicks restaurant in suburban Balaclava.

In a joint statement, the Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) and the B'nai B'rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) labelled the attack an outrage.

Police confirmed they were investigating the incident, but were unable to provide any details.

Alon said a friend nearby had warned him to run from the men, but he failed to get away in time.

1. Last time I looked, being Jewish did not put some one in another
race...

Being Jewish is a religious and cultural designation and not based on race...

2. So, that makes the attack OK?

3. No it doesn't make the attack okay...
But it doesn't describe the violence correctly...

4. So?
Why does that really matter? If the article said "anti-Semitic" attack, there would be those at DU that would say "it doesn't describe the violence correctly."

5. If you don't feel the use of language is that important..
Then I fail to see any reason to continue this conversation...

6. The use of language is NOT as important as what HAPPENED!
If you can't see that, then you are correct, any further discussion would produce little information, other than minimizing the attack against a Jew because it was called by a paper as a "racist" attack.

7. They should have stated Anti-semetic instead of Race...
That is all I said...

Perhaps my choice of words confused you...

Because you have conflated what I stated to infer that I am somehow either anti-semetic myself or that I favor violence...

8. You are indeed confused.
You could have easily said the attack was a bad thing instead of explaining the "wrongness" of the article's choice of words. I didn't conflate anything. I asked if you felt the attack was OK. You said it was not. I never inferred, implied, or said you were anti-Semitic, but don't that let you stop you from making shit up about what I say.

9. What a shame
In this day and age, there are still so many people who think it's okay to kick the crap out of somebody just because they don't like him.

:grr:

I hope they throw the book at these jerks.
