Robert Murray should be tried for negligent homicide in mine deaths.
Edited on Sun Aug-19-07 11:02 PM by Ken Burch
Robert Murray's arrogant defiance of safe mining practices has now caused the deaths of three rescuers, as well as the probable deaths of the miners trapped under the rubble.

His combative, spiteful presence at the press conferences following the accident.

He is the self-made man mentality brought to its logical, lethal conclusion.

In a decent person would express repentence and sorrow for causing the wives of these miners and rescuers to face life alone and their children to grow up without a father.

Robert Murray, deserves to rot in the darkest cell in the worst prison in the land.

He won't, of course.

He'll probably end up writing a book, "finding Jesus" and making millions on the lecture circuit.

Because the rich get away with murder in this country.

It's time to bring all the bastards like Murray down.

And it's time to give surviving Murray miner, if it reopens, in the United Mineworkers.

1. Under the law
The only negligence that matters is in regards to safety practices (or lack thereof).

His personality is beside the point.

3. There's plenty damn evidence of his negligence and indifference to the
safety of the men who worked for him.

4. Well, under the law.
There's plenty of evidence for getting him on the letter of the law.

5. Not under U.S. corporate law
See, you'd have to prove that Murray intended to kill these particular miners. It isn't enough to show that his negligent operating practices would inevitably result in some miners' deaths; you have to show that Murray intended for these specific miners to die.

And before you respond, no it doesn't make any sense, but that's the state of the law for on-the-job injury and death in this country at this time.

6. it might be possible with a sympathetic jury. Because one could argue he DID want them to die
so they could not offer evidence proving he ordered them to engage in unsafe mining techniques.

Dead men tell no tales.

7. Time and past time our lawmakers stopped sucking on corporate cocks and changed the law, then.
That's such utter bullshit it's a fucking embarrassment to have on the books.
