I was listening to Jamaica's Power 106
radio station earlier and turned it off to watch the Sunday gnus shows and I just went to turn it back on and I'm getting an error.

Link: http://www.go-jamaica.com/power/ (Real or Winamp Players)

Is anyone else getting this error and if so, is it because they've shut down the power and headed for the hills?

I knew they were going to cut the electricity but I guess I assumed the broadcast would continue during the storm.

4. We're fine
Still have power. Try 93.7 on the web or Radio Jamaica. Irie FM should be the best as they're in Ochi. Once power goes, expect to lose connections.

We'll be OK. The eye is not coming ashore and Dean continues to move West - the best news we can expect. We anticipate major South coast damage and the people in two vulnerable communities - Port Royal and Portmore refuse to move so some of them may lose their lives. Fifty buses were sent for them but it's their decision to value property over personal safety.

No major effects so far - just rain and some wind howling in the passage.
Thanks - we'll be OK but we anticipate major damage to vulnerable homes, particularly on the south coast. There will be loss of life if people don't heed warnings and probably for some unlucky people. The coffee pot is full and the neighbours sure have their bags of herb on alert. :D

25. My thoughts are with you
and everyone in Jamaica. We are having a hell of a thunderstorm here in Virginia, and I'm scared to death!:scared:
I know it doesn't compare to anything you are going through. Take care, stay inside, and smoke a little for me. Goodnight, friend.

This is sport to the media vultures. They are here seeking excitement and pissing us off. Just listen to Steve Lyons.

And thanks for the true, factual update on the hurricane.

Yeah, those media vultures want their " story" no matter if they are in the way,
peddling hysteria or whatnot!

:grr:

I hope more people decide to move inland.

Stay safe.

9. they just showed on the weather that the eye is going south
So if it continues that way, the worst of the winds will be at the southern edge of Jamaica and they will not be hit direct. It's still a huge storm, but that's a little better news. Hang in there, Malaise!

21. I heard some comments about the Pedro Cays
Fishermen were advised to leave by the Coast Guard but they haven't left. If I heard the conversation right, there were about 50 people there. They'd be in Dean's path if my geography is accurate. Google Earth wasn't any help but Wiki had some info aout them being south and west of Jamaica.

The cam is still going but who knows what tomorrow will bring.
