after Petreaus issues his report? Is this just a 2008 campaign strategy to get the Pubs elected?

I think it is!

How are our candidates going to handle it?

Edit: BTW, I don't have any links. I've been listening to radio on the net all day and I've heard this on each station's news reports at the top of the hour.

1. No one would listen--but I have been saying Bush will
have the drawdown in prgoress before the nexr election.

There are no replacement troops after April. Our Military
is stretched that thin.

GOP in House and Senate need the war to be winding down or
they do not have a prayer. I have said all along The troops
would be in non combat positions(Murtha PLan) and being transferred
home a few thousand each month. If I am wrongI will surely
admit my mistake.

The closer to the election the drawdown, the people will be
in a happier mood to vote. Every move they make is politically
calculated. Time the drawdown to have best political effect.

I drew this conclusion from watching lots of TV shows and listening
carefully especially to Genterals.

3. The Republicans' big problem is that there are more civilians
working on behalf of American interests in Iraq than there are members of the military. If they pull out the troops, the risk to civilians increases. If they try to get the civilians out before they pull out troops, the troops can't wage the war against the factions in Iraq. Also, how do they get all their equipment out? And once they reduce the number of troops, what happens? Will there be more violence yet?

If they get UN troops or the military presence of neighboring countries, they may cause a whole new set of problems. They are in a pretty pickle of their own making.

4. Of course a Draw Down will happen.
Busholini will pull the troops out of areas where they have the most possibility of being attacked. This way there will be less casualties for Americans to dwell on. Black Water, other International(Latin American mostly)Mercs & Iraqi Mercs will have to take on the battle to subdue Iraq until the Oil Deal is secured.
