Wouldn't it be nice to actually see CHILDREN in the Whitehouse again?
And NOT as the president...

And not as 20 something party animals still being treated as children.

But as Obama's children. Who are still children.

Or Edward's children who are CHILDREN.

It would be nice to actually see CHILDREN in the White House again. I think it would be good for the soul of the nation.

Some laughter, squeals and spirited spit-ball fights in those "hallowed halls" might do us all some good.

And many of our better presidents came with young children.

Teddy Roosevelt

Lincoln

Kennedy

Or maybe someone just needs to slap me.

1. Lovely post. I think it would be nice, though that's not a reason
to pick a candidate. Still, I think you're right.

Thanks so much. It's nice to think of the People's House with friendly thought bubbles filled with birthday parties and a children's holiday seasons. Like fresh air.

both have lovely families.

Though having children isn't one of my personal qualifications to become president. :)

31. Are they growing up too fast? Too slow? What do the experts say?
Are they role models for the nation's children? Should they be? Does media scrutiny put them at risk? A Columbine-style shooting - could it happen to them?

Once they're done with all the inane questions, they'll do a special report on children of former Presidents - where are they now? What are they doing? What do they have to say about growing up in the White House? What advice do they have for the new First Family?

Oy gevalt, kill me now, I haven't the strength.

11. No, it wouldn't
it would be nice to see a responsible head of state who put in the serious hours required by the position. The status of that head of state's family life is utterly and completely meaningless.

14. I agree.
I also don't wish that kind of scrutiny upon any child. Imagine having to live out your awkward years underneath a microscope.

I'm also sick of politicians using their families in their campaigns. Just because your family has the appearance of being squeaky clean and all-American does not mean that you will be a competent politician.

15. I think that's a given with any of the Democratic candidates.
But having children underfoot has to have a psychologic effect when considering whether or not to push the button.

44. Benefit of kids in the White House
Agreed, it would be good to have a responsible adult in
charge, but maybe, just maybe, someone with kids wouldn't be
so quick to send ...anyone's... children halfway around the
world to get slaughtered for insane policies.

17. Lincoln`s kids? nooooo.......
they were -never-disciplined during their stay at the whitehouse. abe and his wife did`t believe they should so the kids ran wild ..interrupted meetings and other stuff that 99% of the public would`t allow their kids to do.

with his kids running wild, his wife`s interesting problems, and a precarious political collation it is a wonder he kept his sanity and "won" the war

I wouldn't want to subject small children to the fishbowl existence it has become. Hell, things have changed considerably, even since Chelsea was growing up there.

I guess that with all of the speculation about Jenna, it was foremost on my mind.

But yeah, kids are our future. And they are so cute, so innocent, so trusting.
