Apparently our Republican friends (or is that "fiends"? Same diff...) are having a problem with the fact that the smallest airplane the Air Force owns that is capable of flying from the DC area to San Francisco is the biggest Gulfstream they can get their hands on.
Okay, fine, the Republicans have a problem with damn near everything, but a problem is a problem and it's up to us to fix it.
Therefore! We will give the Republicans a choice in this matter.
Their first option: Speaker Pelosi moves into the position of House Majority Leader. House Majority Leader Hoyer becomes the House Majority Whip. And on and on until we have given all of our current leadership new positions in the Democratic leadership, manufacturing a new leadership position for the odd man out. This leaves the Speaker's seat empty, and the Member of Congress who will fill it is Barney Frank, Democrat of Massachusetts. Nearly any airplane in the Air Force inventory is capable of flying from Andrews AFB to Boston Logan, including turboprops, trainers and Cessna 173s they rent from the base Aero Club. And since it's now thoroughly possible to fly the Speaker from Washington to his home district on 200 gallons of fuel, the Republicans, penurious bastards that they are, and their Religious Right syncophants should have absolutely no problem with joyously assenting to having a gay man from Massachusetts third in line to the Presidency.
Their second option: They accept the fact that it takes a hell of a lot of gas to fly from the east coast to the west coast, that the airplane the Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Representatives chose for Speaker Pelosi is the smallest plane he could scrounge up that would hold all of it, and go back to blaming everything on Bill Clinton like they used to when he was actually in charge of anything.
