"White House hails Padilla verdict"-Isn't it unseemly for the executive branch to 'approve' verdicts
...The White House thanked the jury for a "just" verdict.

Estela Lebron, Padilla's mother, said outside the courthouse: "The winner is George Bush." Earlier in the courtroom, she said she felt "a little bit sad" at the verdict but expected her son's lawyers would appeal.

"I don't know how they found Jose guilty. There was no evidence he was speaking in code," she said, referring to FBI wiretap intercepts in which Padilla was overheard talking to co-defendant Adham Amin Hassoun.

1. I thought they didn't comment on cases that are on appeal.
On second thought, I'll celebrate quite loudly when Bush/Cheney et al are convicted of war crimes.

Regardless of the verdict, habeas corpus in action is something christian conservative constition hating bastards oppose with their hearts and souls whether they understand the concept or not. They have been instructed to oppose forthwith.
