Our dear 24/7 news channels are not in the market of selling news. They are selling advertisement space. News is just the wrapper.
As long as the majority of the people (the audience) is behind the Administration, they will present that Administration in a fashion that is pleasant to the viewers. As soon as the scale tips the other way, they will give the public what the public wants and join in the fun. Keep the audience happy, keep the advertisers happy.
