After a lengthy career with the American Tobacco Company, Hager began in politics as a volunteer in the 1970s and was elected lieutenant governor in 1997. His term ended in 2002.

He served in homeland security posts under two Virginia governors, then returned to Washington as an assistant secretary in the U.S. Department of Education. Now, at age 70, he is the new chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia.

4. They just announced her engagement
-- Jenna Bush, President and Laura Bush's daughter, is engaged, the White House said Thursday.

Jenna Bush, 25, is marrying Henry Hager, 28, a former White House aide who used to work with Karl Rove.

His father, John Hager, is the chairman of the Virginia Republican Party.

13. Yipes! He looks like a stiff to me.
Has all the makings of a very boring marriage. I give it no more than 5 years max.

6. Looks that way. Here's the scoop from a while ago (11/05).
http://blogs.salon.com/0002874/2005/11/08.html

So, we did some Googling to find out what Henry's been up to. And it turns out that when he isn't visiting trendy watering holes with Jenna, he's a "Policy Analyst" at the Department of Commerce. I don't know exactly which policies he analyzes, but he does stand-in for his boss, Carlos Gutierrez (the Secretary of the Commerce) at meetings of the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities.

And in a strange coincidence, Henry's dad John Hagar is also a member of this committee --but as we know, nepotism is so hated by the White House that it discloses CIA sources and methods to fight it, so we are sure that his father's position and connections have nothing to do with Henry's prestigious job or assignment.

Anyway, it is possible that the happiness evidenced by newlyweds Charles and Camilla inspired Henry and Jenna to start thinking about marriage, and an announcement about wedding plans could be made as soon as the President's approval ratings slip another 5% .

9. Who will pay for this upcoming wedding?
I sure hell hope its not the taxpayer. I aint paying for anything I am not invited to and I wont pay for the horse doovers I wont get to taste and I sure aint paying for the hoedown band that will play foot stompin' and hand smackin' music and I wont be able to dance to. Actually, thats a good thing that I wont dance at her wedding. You really dont want to see me dance. Kinda like the dancin' hippos in Fantasia.

Why dont we all send cards to the wedding telling the groom about his wonderful (urg) father-in-law that he is getting. So, what do you think....will the reception be held at the local 4-H club in Crawford which doubles as a beer bar
