"I love, love, LOVE George Bush"
This not from KKKarl Rove but from an obviously insane person I met today. I had been talking, to an acquaintance, about when her brother would return from Iraq and I let her know that I would keep my fingers crossed for him. This other girl was around and there to help me do my job. After this conversation she chimed in about how much she loved *. She then said, "If Kerry had been elected I would have moved to Canada and figured out a plan on how to kill him." (!!!!!!!!) I ignored her and talked over her stating that if Kerry had been elected that things would be so much better now. She talked over me saying, once again, how she would have moved to Canada and figured out a way to kill Kerry.

I try to treat people with respect and I just let that go. I think she had to much Koolaid to drink anyway. I never would have changed her mind. I did not attack * or say that I think he should be killed. I would not lie like that, I think he should be impeached and arrested, not killed. He needs to face what he has done and death would not allow that.

I guess I am offended that what she said shows a lack of respect for me and my beliefs. I know she is just a college kid but she should at least know how to treat others with respect. I have the information to leave her in tears over her lover boy but I keep my mouth shut. I honestly feel it shows some sort of mental disorder that she repeated twice how she would have tried to work up a plan to kill Kerry. I am not trying to be mean. If you say something that drastic, and you seem to mean it, then there is cause for alarm. Of course, to support * at this point I suppose something would have to be wrong.

1. You might have reminded her
that threatening to kill anyone, especially a government official, is illegal. Ask her if she wants DHS to swoop in on her and take her away for a few months just to make sure she is not a terrorist.

11. She would not believe it could happen to her.
Most of these folks do not even realize how bad it has become but I will talk to her mom. Maybe some wisdom comes with age and she can warn her daughter not to say such things - especially in front of about six witnesses!

Just call 'em up and tell them that you heard her talking about wanting to kill a President.

People don't get a free ride for saying such things, in my opinion.

Edited on Wed Aug-15-07 01:59 PM by demgurl
If I didn't feel she was serious I would not be offended and I would not have compared her to a crazy person. Mental illness is no laughing matter. I don't know her name. This is the first time I have ever seen her. Her mom (whose name I can not recall) called me and volunteered to help me today. When her mom could not make it, this girl showed up for her. I had thought about talking to her mom but undoubtedly she gets her opinions from those close to her. I wonder if she had not heard her mom or dad say such stuff and she repeats it because she thinks it sounds cute. I can only hope that is it because if she means it then she need to get a lot of help.

26. This was my first, and hopefully last, time I ever saw her.
I have seen her mother around, though, and I will impress upon her how bad a thing this is. I am in an awkward position since the school employs me but her mom is a parent at the school. I do not want them to think I am threatening them and then I get fired. I know what classroom the child is in and I will keep a watchful eye for the mother. I am not sure what exactly I will say but they have to be warned about what could happen.

8. Repeat and reinforcement of post #1, above.
It is so bad and so strict that even a casual, offhand comment, reported to the wrong-or right-people, can get a person interrogated and locked up for hours, days, even weeks. And, unless and until there are more changes made by congress or some court cases brought so that the status of some laws is tested, it is conceivable that one stupid, even drunk, comment could get one in Gitmo for the duration.

Talk of assassination, even of congress people or previous presidential candidates, is dangerous and dumb. She really needs to know this.

27. I was trying to be non-confrontational.
There are so many thoughts going through my head but I was biting my tongue. The crazy thing is that there is a well known rethuglican (in these parts, anyway) who goes to my school. He knows I am a Democrat and I know about his slimy campaign ads. He and I jostle back and forth and tease each other. Neither one of us expects to get anywhere with the other but it is the only way I can get my little digs in and still keep my job.

The rethuglican was there later on and when he mentioned my D representative I told him (while sticking my tongue out) that the kids and I had gone downtown to the D's office to try and meet up with Cindy Sheehan and to make a point about how * needs to be impeached. He knows I get my digs in and regularly teases me about my bumper stickers. At the end of the last school year he even came in and AGREED that he wishes gas was back to $1.46. (Where it was when * took office) Anyway, right when I told him about the whole impeachment thing, the girl left without a word! Keep in mind that this guy is about as Republican as you can get and he even gave me one of HIS old bumper stickers when he ran. He was fine with us "fighting" back and forth but she walked out at the thought that I wanted to take down the great love of her life! How come he and I can get along and this chick and I can't? Why do some people need to be so disrespectful?

A person on a message board asked me why as a Chriatian I wouldn't want a Christian Theocracy in the US. Stupidest Q I've ever heard. But people like that think that since they heard the drivel at church, they must be right for spewing it.

There has been some really good brainwashing by the RR and Repubs over the last few decades.

29. I agree.
Big time brainwashing. I can not believe how much 'good Christian folk' back up this man. He has told so many lies. He has killed people. (take your pick through death penalty or torture or bombings, etc....) He has cut funding to the poor. He refuses to let a bill go through that would help our poorest children. Just how someone can reconcile how crooked this man is, with their religion, is a mystery to me. To paraphrase Gandhi : I like your Christ. I do not like your pResident, he is unlike your Christ.

35. That question has been fascinating me for YEARS now. Do they even KNOW their own religion at all??
How much of the New Testament do they know? How much of Jesus' teachings do they know of? I'm not a Christian, but as Bill Maher said: I still believe the Jesus Christ from the Bible is a great role model. But do these 'super-christians' know that, too? Or are they only familiar with the Old Testament, which is -let's be honest- one big bloody massacre created by God? An eye for an eye, and that kinda stuff.

and he has repeatedly voted Republican because he is 'pro-life'. I send out emails expressing my point of view and in this past election I actually swayed him to vote Democratic because he saw the Republicans are NOT actually pro-life. If you can get them to sit down with an open mind and heart then you can present them with information that will change their minds and viewpoints for years to come. I wish all 'God fearing' people would open their minds and realize they are being duped by the party of 'family values'.

and that is what I have pointed out in my private emails to my friends and family. I also pointed out how Christians have been called 'religious wackos' by the right. And I made sure everyone was aware that when they held a majority they never did outlaw abortion and that they couldn't do it and still keep it as a wedge issue to get folks out to the voting booths.

34. You don't want to know how many Americans I met on teh Internets who said they wanted to KILL
a Democrat/liberal.

I have often encountered angry Democrats/liberals talking bad about Republicans/conservatives, but almost always backed up by facts to justify that anger. I have seen them say pretty harsh, tough deserved words. But I have never, ever, seen the HATE, the sheer and all-absorbing HATE that I've seen with Bush-supporters and other conservatives who wish DEATH to Democrats/liberals.

Once, I met a person who said: "We, in the midwest, hate liberals more than we hate Al Qu'aida". And THAT'S what's wrong with America. :(

Too funny how Americans assume they can go to Canada - as a right winger, she's probably always whinging about undocumented immigrants to the U.S., but does it dawn on her at all that she might not qualify under Canada's laws? No, it is just assumed that Americans can go wherever they want to.
