Apparently, it's Waco Day at Yahoo
All the Right Wing Waco Wackos are out and about today, screaming how Clinton killed those kids. The kids were at a compound controlled by a manipulative psychopath, yet they think what happened is Clinton's fault :eyes:.

What's up with that?

You can view the right wing insanity here BTW.

1. I've never understood their obsession with Waco.
There are few ways that could have ended better.

Now I DO understand their issues with Ruby Ridge, to some extent. From everything I've heard, that whole thing was a fiasco.

2. Even if Clinton did kill those kids, they were a drop in the bucket compared to the
American troops Bush has killed.

Add to that the 3,000 people killed on 9/11/02 due to the negligence of his administration, the innocent Iraqi people killed for his lies, and the construction/support people killed in Iraq, and what happened on that sad day in Waco doesn't even compare.

Tell them to compare the deaths in Waco to those of their brave leader, Bush, and see what they think.

Group of people who are storming a compound and take the lives of eight pregnant women, seventeen children, many elderly.

The various government agencies could have easily nabbed Davicd Koresh at a local video store or any of a number of other places. The government was spending over 10 miollion dollars a day ont his episode - yet the people inside the compound still died.

And on the fatal final day, the agents more than likely shot at the those who tried to escape.

A movie was made: “Waco: The Rules of Engagement”. Several years ago, a handful of surviving Davidians vented their spleens by initiating a lawsuit charging the government with culpability in the matter of the firestorm. They sought millions of dollars in damages. And they were seeking not just to avenge the firestorm itself, but to prove to the outside world that the reason so many died that day was not because of the suicidal tendencies of rabid cult members, but because of snipers shooting at any Davidians who attempted to flee the burning buildings.
As they approached their trial date, they had an extremely powerful witness, an expert who would use technology to expound on their beliefs. Infrared expert Carlos Ghigliotti of Maryland spent many months assembling his presentation for the Davidians’ case against the government. He owned and operated a startling assemblage of technical devices that helped him analyze filmed segments of the final hours of the compound. At the heart of his investigation was his mission to unravel a single puzzle: in the FBI film there were mysterious bright flashes of light appearing outside the emergency exits of the compound. Were these flashes mere sunlight glinting off metal objects, or were they the pathways of bullets fired by government–trained snipers?

However Carlos Ghigliotti was found dead, just a few weeks before he would have testified as to his findings. All of his evidence was missing. the government was then found innocent of the accusations.

Not that an exploding freeper brain would cause much damage, it's that the freeper will go back to posting again just soon after the explosion only brainless. Oh well who can tell the difference?

Yet if that had been a group of black fundies holed up in Waco they would be screaming that Clinton took to long to kill everyone in the compound after all law enforcement officers were shot. But then when your dealing with a bunch of untreated head injuries such as the right wing what do you expect? See what happened to right wing nuts was dad was throwing baby right wing nut up in the air and forgetting to catch them.

8. Everything is Clinton's fault
The operations in Somalia and at Waco both started under BushDaddy. Clinton had to deal with those two problems right off, as he was forming his administration. So it's Clinton's fault.

Thanks to investigations ongoing from the Clinton administration, the US had evidence that Al Qaida was going to try some big terrorist assault in the summer of 2001. And Clinton had unsuccessfully attempted to get rid of bin Ladin previously, to Republican accusations of "wagging the dog." When BushBaby came into office, he ignored the intelligence forewarning of terrorism in 2001 because he was putting together his administration. So 9/11 is Clinton's fault.

Wow, this is a fun game. My car is currently in the shop. I wonder what Clinton did to my car? And I was not at all happy with my meal when I went out to eat last. Damn that Clinton and his shoddy cooking!

38. That's not how the game is played
<style=MSMspeak>The game is called "Everything is Clinton's Fault." Therefore, when Bushbaby leaves office, everything that he did wrong will be revealed to be Clinton's fault. And if he doesn't leave office, then his overthrow of the Constitution will be judged to be Clinton's fault. Now, see if you can play it properly like a good little automaton or Congress will have to take your internet away.</style>

But I've reviewed it carefully, and it simply wasn't Clinton's distaster. I can't find a single piece of evidence linking him to mess. All his commands regarding how it was to be handled seemed appropriate.

32. Exactly..
Waco was the result of the increased "militarization" of Law Enforcement. Every podunk town and city feels they need to have a SWAT team. ATF showed up dressed like a bunch of fucking storm troopers and got the shit shot out of them. They had plenty of opportunity to take Koresh outside the compound when he was alone. Instead they wanted show their "muscle" and to have a little "exercise" and ended up getting the short end.

You are exactly right. Which makes it all the more infuriating when some progressives defend the operation...especially in light of the actions of the Bush II administration, and the Bush 1 admin's handling of the Ruby Ridge episode.

BATFE called the initial raid "Operation Showtime." Koresh had been cooperative with local police before, and they could have arrested him offsite or on another day when the children and most of the parents would have been at school/work, but they wanted the cameras there on a slow-news day, so footage would be available for the annual budget hearing.

Then the FBI moved in with a "kill-em-all-and-let-God-sort-'em-out" attitude, and it went downhill from there...

Regardless of whether the SDA's set the fire or the tanks did by knocking over lanterns, the operation was a travesty from the get-go.

Edited on Tue Aug-14-07 03:34 AM by NutmegYankee
The first question seemed funny to answer with a Godwin's law violation, but I'll skip that:evilgrin:

IIRC, The "bunker" collapsed during the fire (I have no details on its structural design) crushing the children inside. Later the ammunition in the bunker caught fire, much is which is driven by reducer-oxidation compounds that carry their own oxygen supply (gunpowder, etc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxidation).

I say the children were murdered because the parents allowed them to die like that. If you want to burn up, fine, but let your children out first.
