Leahy: "Rove Acted As If He Was Above The Law" Senate Plans To Press Forward With Investigations
Leahy vows to press forward with Rove investigation.

When asked whether he was leaving to avoid congressional scrutiny, Karl Rove told the WSJ: “I’m not going to stay or leave based on whether it pleases the mob.” And Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) has made clear he’s not going to determine his subpoenas based on whether Rove stays or leaves. Leahy issued the following statement this morning, explaining the Senate Judiciary Committee “will continue its investigation” into Rove:

Earlier this month, Karl Rove failed to comply with the Judiciary Committee’s subpoena to testify about the mass firings of United States Attorneys. Despite evidence that he played a central role in these firings, just as he did in the Libby case involving the outing of an undercover CIA agent and improper political briefings at over 20 government agencies, Mr. Rove acted as if he was above the law. That is wrong. Now that he is leaving the White House while under subpoena, I continue to ask what Mr. Rove and others at the White House are so desperate to hide. Mr. Rove’s apparent attempts to manipulate elections and push out prosecutors citing bogus claims of voter fraud shows corruption of federal law enforcement for partisan political purposes, and the Senate Judiciary Committee will continue its investigation into this serious issue.

The list of senior White House and Justice Department officials who have resigned during the course of these congressional investigations continues to grow, and today, Mr. Rove added his name to that list. There is a cloud over this White House, and a gathering storm. A similar cloud envelopes Mr. Rove, even as he leaves the White House.

Good enough to say twice
but I want him behind bars once he's beyond all possibility of a Bush pardon.

I'm willing to wait (a little bit) for real justice.

2. I'm still wondering how that 12 more day thing for Gonzo is
going. I'll worry about KKKarl when Gonzo is made to answer for his crimes. Because if we can't touch Rice or Gonzo, we'll never get Rove.

5. And another reccomend. I'm glad Leahy will keep going.
Even though Rove will *officially* be gone, his ass still needs to end up in jail.

12. "I'm not going to stay or leave based on whether it pleases the mob".
There is the modern GOP mindset in a nutshell. Who cares if the "mob" wants a Republican president? Steal it. Who cares if the mob wants to leave Iraq? Or have national healthcare? Or just a decent standard of living? Who cares what the actual *people* of this country want?

I'm getting tired of hearing the same old song from the same old jukebox. OMG, THEY ARE GOING TO KEEP INVESTIGATING!!!!!!!! Don't we sound tough?

What's new? When are they going to hold inherent contempt proceedings and throw his and Miers asses in jail?

18. If Leahy is serious he will issue an Inherent Contempt Charge.
This is the only method that might garner results regarding Rove & Meirs.

I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not buying what they're selling anymore. Their dog and pony show is OVER. I'm on to their little game. Keep the lefties 'satisfied' with promises, promises, promises...drag it out until election time. Keep us hanging on, get money to fund their campaigns, make more promises, continue the dog and pony show, take more money from the lefties, promise to get out of Iraq, do another investigation, take more money from the lefties, file contempt charges, have them ignored, do nothing, take more money from the lefties, make more promises, do another investigation, issue more subpoenas, have them ignored, take more money from the lefties, promise to keep pressing forward, pass the FISA Bill, take more money from the lefties, talk tough, toss out a few more bones to the lefties....it goes on and on and on and on. Have you noticed? I feel USED.

22. This whole bunch is going to prison
With the possible exception of dead eye, he'll probably bust a main spring when they come for him. The rest of this cabal are young and healthy, they have the privelge of power and are using it, proper diet, exercise, excellent medical care all ensure that the majority of these rats will be around for a long time.
There is a long game being played here as well, I for one am enjoying it unfold, come September they're going to be like a dog chasing fleas.
Erlichda.

23. Rove can't get executive privilege for his part in the Abramoff scandal.
And I think that Bush knows that when Rove outed Valerie Plame and later said he would fire anybody from his administration that was connected with it, and then he didn't, it hurt the GOP badly because even the Republicans now consider Bush to be a liar.
