Any educated people in the current adminsitration?
We know that Bush is a "legacy" graduate of Yale (meaning he would have never made it were it not for papa). I am not sure that Cheney ever graduated and now they said that while Rove attended several colleges he never graduated.

Elitism? Maybe. But I remember how proud I was with the 1992 ticket: two high scholastic achievers who were proud of it, after the dumbing down during Reagan and Quayle and even papa Bush trying to hide his academic background.

5. Degrees Are Increasingly a Snapshot Commodity
Like a coat of exterior paint on an about-to-be-flipped property. It could be cheap slop or guaranteed for ten years. It could cover a sound structure or it could just be prettying up a rotting pile of boards. You don't really know what it's worth until you look a little closer, probe, live in it.

I meet illiterates and know-nothings and wannabes with degrees every day, just as I meet fascinating, successful self-educated people. Neither species is all that rare.

I'd like to think the executive branch of government is packed with expert staff and appointees, but none of them ever needed a sheepskin to know right from wrong.

6. It's actually "Dr. Rice"
You don't have to like her politics, but you can't say she isn't a very intelligent person.

10. The same way all those other idiots with PhDs get their PhDs.
What, you think everybody with a PhD is smart? Haven't met very many, have you?

11. Actually, yes I have
My son is working on one, right now. In fact, all the guys who lived in his house while undergrads are. They're even being paid to do so. They had "Science" magazines laying around their house like most college kids have porn. Each one was a National Merit Scholar. Not bad for a college of only about 1700 students.

Depends on the subject, of course, but most Ph.D.'s work very hard, and have to be dedicated and smart to complete their degrees.

I disagree with Dr. Rice on her politics, but I think an African-American woman had to have a lot on the ball to get a doctorate in the 60's or 70's or whenever she did.

4. Yes, Cheney has a degree
A masters, even, in Political Science. Condi, of course, has a doctorate. Bush has an MBA.

Education ain't all it's cracked up to be.

13. But of course. The President has a Master's Degree from Harvard University.
Harvard should lose their accreditation, AFAIC.
