(MSNBC) Rove: "I don't see taking a role in a 2008 presidential campaign."

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/08/13/314279.aspx

<snip>

NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell notes that advisers said Rove has been talking to President Bush about his possible resignation for "a long time, about a year." The view inside has been there has always been a "big project to work on and his strategic abilities and our need for his support kept him here." Advisers acknowledge there is "never a good time to leave, just the ‘right’ time."

Rove tells O’Donnell that he does not plan to advise or work with GOP contenders or the eventual nominee, "I don't see taking a role in a 2008 presidential campaign." Rove has previously described himself as "a Bush man" when he said he did not have interest in assisting another Republican candidate.

Just a little correction of what was an obvious error in the title line. ;)

4. I think that might be accurate
I think he might play a shadow role in the Romney campaign, but nothing open. He wouldn't want to look disloyal to President Bush for various reasons.

5. I still think he's planning on being Freddie's brain, but I guess it's
POSSIBLE that too many Pubs are really pissed about losiing so many seats last Nov, and they're blaming Rover.

6. Wish I could believe that. It would signal that Rove sees GOP chances as hopeless.
But, with the attempt to partition California's electoral votes, I just don't have that kind of faith.

7. Now that Rove has had time to train others in election fraud, he can sit back and enjoy the show.
No need for Rove to do the dirty work any longer, he has others to do it for him. He can just sit back and enjoy the fruits of his labor.

I'm sure the "powers that be" will take care of Rove, just like they'll take care of Libby and all the other crooks who've lined their coffers these last few years. :(

8. Rove's name will never be publically attached to the
R nominee. He won't be officially part of any campaign. Doesn't mean he won't be the RNC behind-the-scenes hatchet man working to steal the election and defame the Dem nominee. That's a given.

9. Of course his assistance won't be public. He's toxic- he's synonymous with Bush.

Mr. Rove's specialties are dirty tricks and fixing elections, and that's what the GOP does. He'll be plying his trade in the 2008 campaign, don't doubt it for a second.
