Kucinich Supports Venezuelan Social Revolution
Edited on Thu Feb-08-07 10:47 AM by BayCityProgressive
Another reason to support Kucinich. Unlike the big power players in the Dem party who bash foreign people's revolutions, Kucinich supports them. In 04 before the Venezuelan election Kucinich, Jesse jackson, and Howard Zinn signed a letter of support for Chavez and his party. I am glads these progressives will take a bold stand on issues effecting the poor in other areas of the world.

1. He's supporting election reform in Cuba?

Great, if he'd at least come out in support of allowing more than one party there it's a start. `

2. I think his only statement
on Cuba has been that he supports lifting the embargo. As I understand it, anyone running in Cuba must run as an independant. there are multiple parties in the country that are legal after the 1992 constitution, but none can nominate candidates, note ven the communists in theory. I have never been there so I can't say. They may need to reform their electoral process just as we need to get rid of a two party dictatorship.

3. The title of the OP is overly broad. Cuba is not mentioned.
The actual text of the letter only speaks about Venezuela and reforms and implementation of social programs there to combat illiteracy, poverty, etc. Cuba has no dog in this fight with respect to the text of the letter itself.

5. I corrected
the title of the thread. In hindsight it was too broad. Thanks for pointing out.

8. Great!
Unlike most Democrats, he also supports more than one Party (the CorpoRepublicrats) in the US.

DK for Pres!

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.
