The Propaganda Surge Is On
every morning i wake to a new 'good news' story on the surge success in my local newspaper.

i can only assume these stories appear nationwide.

1. Oh yeah
The Republican propaganda machine is in full force. On C-Span's Washington Journal this morning, Brian asked the question "Do you trust Petreaus"? Most of the callers, of course, were Repubs, and they saw no reason to distrust him. When did this administration ever provide us with a negative report on Iraq?

3. How many people trusted
Colon Powell when he stood before the American people and outright lied about WMD.

2. HA! Good news stories? From Iraq?
Let's think of an analogy, shall we?

Suppose I bought a car for, say, $250 billion, and the damn thing won't start. Would I consider the fact that the windshield wipers work "good news"? Perhaps in bizarro world.

4. This started here a couple weeks ago even in the local news
from Right and Left wingers too. My wifes cousin just came back from Iraq, he wouldn't even talk for two days. Guess his vehicle group was ambushed and hit with a roadside bomb. He only had a small scratch but my wife thinks the story goes he is pretty shook up because he had to fire on some people. He knows he hit them but doesn't know if he killed them. Hopefully mentally he can achieve some normalcy again. Smart guy has a couple of degrees. He wasn't in country very long compared to most of the people there. I can't imagine the mental recovery for the other people who have served so much longer.

Before this happened all I heard was him writing home saying he didn't know what the hell they were still over there for.

5. Yesterday the decider said that
no one will stop his war. He does not give a flying fugg who dies as long as he and his neocons get that oil.

6. Yep, on the front page.
The bullshit stinks so bad even the elephants can smell it. On the other hand, the stock market woes weren't even mentioned in the first section of our paper.

8. What's funny is just a few weeks ago (July), the Generals and McCain
and Lieberworm and Goober Graham were saying, hey! The troops are finally JUST NOW in place! You have to give them a chance! We ain't seen nothing yet! And then in the space of two weeks, O'Hanlon and Pollack are able to deliver a positive verdict. Just several weeks to accomplish what months, YEARS in Iraq couldn't--if that doesn't make you smell bullshit, I don't know what will.
