Where in Ground Zero is Rudy Giuliani?
Giuliani: ""This is not a mayor or a governor or a president who's sitting in an ivory tower...I was at ground zero as often, if not more, than most of the workers. ... I was there working with them. I was exposed to exactly the same things they were exposed to. So in that sense, I'm one of them."

Where is Rudy?

Is that him, trying to wipe the dust from his face?

Maybe that's him, retreiving supplies from the FD trailer?

Is that Rudy, caring for a true K9 hero?

Maybe in the orange vest?

In the yellow jacket--eh, no, I think that's a woman:

Caring for the injured?

Is that him, in the turnouts, leaning on the handcart?

Wiping asbestos from his eyes? Hey, it's an older guy...maybe...no:

Surely he's around here somewhere?

Oh, THERE HE IS! In an immaculate suit, giving a press conference:

And then a tour:

Look! There he is again:

"Those guys over there sure are working hard."

Referencing The Straight Story's thread, it is dishonorable for Guiliani to claim that he put himself at the same level or health risk that rescue workers did, in the aftermath of the WTC collapse. Just ludicrous and dishonorable for him to depreciate their work as he has done with the statement above.

Shame on you, Rudy.

2. I think what he means.....
is that he was there "in spirit" as much or more than the rescue workers, just as so many Republican young men are "fighting the war of ideas here at home" instead of volunteering for duty in Iraq.

Rudy is a toad. He'd piss on every 9/11 victims' grave for attention.......and has. :grr:

4. One thing you can be sure of,
if he was there the cameras were there with him.

Maybe Larry Flynt could run one of his "contests" that will pay a tidy sum for every verifiable picture of Rudy covered in ground zero dust taken anytime after, say, 9/18/01.

8. I think, what the Republicans have forgotten is that when we left England,
we also left a society where stratified entitlements were the norm. It's like the original pioneer mentality with plantation owners vs slaves is still very much in effect. Those picture say it all.

FATAL CONFUSION: A Troubled Emergency Response; 9/11 Exposed Deadly Flaws In Rescue Plan

THIS ARTICLE WAS REPORTED AND WRITTEN BY JIM DWYER, KEVIN FLYNN AND FORD FESSENDEN.
Published: July 7, 2002
Minutes after the south tower collapsed at the World Trade Center, police helicopters hovered near the remaining tower to check its condition. ''About 15 floors down from the top, it looks like it's glowing red,'' the pilot of one helicopter, Aviation 14, radioed at 10:07 a.m. ''It's inevitable.''

Seconds later, another pilot reported: ''I don't think this has too much longer to go. I would evacuate all people within the area of that second building.''

Those clear warnings, captured on police radio tapes, were transmitted 21 minutes before the building fell, and officials say they were relayed to police officers, most of whom managed to escape. Yet most firefighters never heard those warnings, or earlier orders to get out. Their radio system failed frequently that morning. Even if the radio network had been reliable, it was not linked to the police system. And the police and fire commanders guiding the rescue efforts did not talk to one another during the crisis.

Cut off from critical information, at least 121 firefighters, most in striking distance of safety, died when the north tower fell, an analysis by The New York Times has found.<snip>

21. UPDATE: Rudy says he misspoke, then digs hole deeper
So this photo should be added to the essay:

Giuliani: I Misspoke About Ground Zero

By LIBBY QUAID
The Associated Press
Friday, August 10, 2007; 4:13 PM

WASHINGTON -- Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani said Friday that he misspoke when he said he spent as much time, if not more, at ground zero exposed to the same health risks as workers combing the site after the Sept. 11 attacks.

"I think I could have said it better," he told nationally syndicated radio host Mike Gallagher. "You know, what I was saying was, 'I'm there with you.'"

snip/

The former New York mayor struck a nerve with firefighters and police officers when he said Thursday in Cincinnati that he was at ground zero "as often, if not more, than most of the workers."

snip/

Fire and police officials responded angrily, saying Giuliani did not do the same work as those involved in the rescue, recovery and cleanup from the 2001 terrorist attacks, which left many workers sick and injured.

"I have a real problem with that statement," said Battalion Chief John McDonnell, head of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association in New York. "I think he's really grasping and trying to justify his previous attempts to portray himself as the hero of 9/11."

On Friday, Giuliani said he was trying to show his concern for the workers' health.

"What I was trying to say yesterday is that I empathize with them, because I feel like I have that same risk," he said.

"There were people there less than me, people on my staff, who already have had serious health consequences, and they weren't there as often as I was," Giuliani said, "but I wasn't trying to suggest a competition of any kind, which is the way it come across."

Giuliani's explanation further angered his ground zero critics, prompting several to issue a statement demanding an apology.

"He is such a liar, because the only time he was down there was for photo ops with celebrities, with politicians, with diplomats," said deputy fire chief Jimmy Riches, who spent months digging for his firefighter son.

"On 9/11 all he did was run. He got that soot on him, and I don't think he's taken a shower since."

Maybe there is justice in the uiniverse after all. How long did he think he was going to be able to go on mining 9/11 for every ounce of self-glory he could get out of it before the real heroes had had enough of his transparent bullshit? The time seems to finally have come.

May his candidacy go down under the weight of his own self-adoring hubris.

I think Americans can see through these jokers, but the system doesn't always cooperate in doing justice to the nation's wisdom.
