53. That's what I heard. Yesterday was a nightmare.

Mr. smokey couldn't leave work in the morning until the manager of the day shift arrived and that wasn't until 10:30. Some of his co-workers who came in from NJ walked down to Water Street from Grand Central Station and Penn Station.

Who knows when the MTA will get around to modernizing the pumping stations. Do you remember about 7 or 8 years ago they had a surplus and wanted to cut the fares? That would have been a great time to do it.

I hope your day doesn't get screwed up tomorrow. :hug:

I need a hug. Mr. Lefty left with the young'uns yesterday for a guy trip, besides the fact that I miss them, he called today and they had lost the keys to the car. I drove to Reliance (yes, cue the banjos from Deliverance) to take my set of keys to them. Mr. Lefty doesn't give great directions as he thinks because he drives those roads and knows exactly where he is...everyone should know.

I was driving around, lost many times on narrow pig-tail roads and it was over 100 degrees without the heat index...driving through the sweat running into my eyes, and sitting in my own sweat for 4 hrs. And when I delivered the keys they were anxious to go as they were late for an appt. to go rafting. If I didn't love them, I swear I'd be tempted to hurt them! :hi: :hug:

Thanks, although by the time that I arrived back home I had one of those 'I'm too hot' headaches so I grabbed a Corona and sat in the shade of the porch and tried to go back to reading the paper, which is what I was doing when I rec'd the dreaded phone call! I don't enjoy being lost on roads so curvy and narrow that you can't consider turning around only to find out that when you reach the next store or turn-around, you're 15 miles in the wrong direction! :hi: :hug:

Highway 1 on the Pacific coast. Gorgeous. You see it in movies and commercials all the time, with people casually negotiating the curves with sheer drops on one side. I'm Ms. Whiteknuckles all the way. Last time we drove it, Mr. c said "so when was the last time you ever heard of an accident on this road, anyway?" I swear - the next day someone went over the side and 200 ft straight down.:scared:

Upon my arrival the 12 yr. old came out to greet me and he hugged me and stated, "You're shirt is soaked, and you look really hot. Should I just get out of the way so that you can have a go at Dad?" (Harry Potter lingo there).

I went into the cabin and went straight to the sink to wash the sweat off of my face, and the 14 yr. old gave me a soft drink in their rush to get out to their rafting appt.!

phones, and cell phones don't work there! I did have a verbal 'go at Dad'...if you're gonna stay in the middle of nowhere, with no phone, and no cell phones available, then you should remember your 'personal filing cabinet' that we've discussed before, as he forgets important 'things' frequently. IOW, put the keys or anything else important to you that you need in a bag, and place it in 'your personal filing cabinet' so you'll know where these things are when you need them! :hug:
