"Patriot" (a poem)
I want to start it
to plan it
to light it

the fuse, the fire
the change, the struggle
I've got to be there
I want to fight it

Despite the dangers there will be
Nathan Hale me
In my Gods I trust
Only one life for the hanging tree
Patrick Henry speaks for me.
the battle begun. Give us death or liberty.

I want to start it
to lead it
to write it and right it,
the wrongs
If I had the strength
or the numbers to be strong
then they'd see,
A patriot.

If it was easy,
To be the brave
I'd save the land of the free
I'd be a patriot
But I'm only just me.

But If patriots became "We"?
A spark, a fire, a cause
A nation's ire
and a driving need and desire
To see our nation restored
Well, perhaps we'll see.

1. Kick. Just because a poem isn't about fucking
doesn't mean it shouldn't get read. :(
