Any scientific confirmation of the Utah earthquake that supposedly
caused the collapse of the mine? I haven't heard anything about an actual earthquake, except from the mine owner, who I suspect is just trying to evade responsibility. . .

1. You are correct.
That guy was in full ass-covering mode.

Maybe if he had hollered into the mic a little louder....

2. Seismologists recorded only ONE disturbance at/around the time of the collapse.

Since the collapse itself would have caused a recording, the conclusion is there was no other (allegedly 'precipitating') seismic event. The recorded 'bumps' since then are most likely to be other collapses ... possibly in sealed shafts.

Even small quarry dynamite blasts cause seismic recording approximating a 1.0-to-2.0 quake. There's a Kaiser-Permanente quarry in which such events are recorded quite often in the Santa Cruz foothills above Cupertino and Los Altos. I lived within a mile of that quarry.

Here're some examples of the quarry blasts in the foothills above Cupertino. (They're KNOWN to be quarry blasts because such blasts are scheduled and acknowledged.)
