IMHO he is a dangerous candidate for the Dems to run against.

He is a moderate in the Republican Party who broke with Bush over the War In Iraq and has been outspoken about it ever since.

However, his voting record shows he is a Republican nonetheless on most issues. And He would outshine the rest of the Repub Idiots running for President.

1. Read that too, from Bob Novak, who likes him. He said
that Hagel has people ready to finance him--I'm curious as to who that might be.

2. I heard on C-SPAN that Hagel and Mike Bloomberg have met and chatted about running as a ticket.
If so, I wonder which one will run for Prez? Bloomberg has all the money. He could probably BUY the election. Maybe he wants Hagel as his VP?

I wonder if they're waiting to see what Thompson does?

4. Speaking of Thompson, I always thought there was something very strange
Edited on Wed Aug-08-07 11:44 PM by wienerdoggie
about this: Hagel on a Wednesday declares he will hold a presser, presumbly to announce (I heard it on local talk radio here in Nebraska--they were positive he was running). The day before Hagel's big announcement, Fox News Sunday rushes Fred Thompson on to declare his very sudden, spontaneous interest in running for Prez--gobbles up all the headlines. Monday, well...we all saw Hagel's non-announcement--he looked pretty rough, too. Now, they were both old backers of McCain, and Senate colleagues. Doesn't it strike anyone as strange and very unsportsmanlike to steal someone's spotlight that blatantly? Imagine if Obama suddenly hurried up and announced the day before Edwards had planned to--very rude, no? I wonder if Thompson was hurried in to keep Hagel out, figuring that there would only be room for ONE "real conservative" in the race?

on edit--weirdly, neither one has still announced--it's like they are dancing around each other.

3. I agree, he's our biggest worry. But he's not a moderate.

Except for his position on Iraq, he's quite conservative.

The right wing end of the party would probably love to have him run.

Here's a link to "On the issues." Among other things, he has a 0% rating on pro-choice and environmental votes, and a 100% rating by the Christian Coalition.

And he is truly a threat, since he has been against Iraq from the start and many people mistakenly view him as a moderate.

5. Thats silly to see one man as the most dangerous, it is a group and the most dangerous
threat we face in the up and coming elections is voter fraud, in my mind that is the only true threat, not any of their candidates.

7. He is the most dangerous because he could actually win, IMO.
Edited on Thu Aug-09-07 12:04 AM by pnwmom
Even in the absence of fraud (which, I agree, is a serious problem.)

He has been against the war in Iraq since the start, he's very articulate and presentable, and many people -- mistakenly -- view him as a moderate. But he actually has a very strong conservative record.

8. There are many canidates out there especialy ours who are more articulate and presentable than
the repubs, I actualy find them a bit sleezy in their looks and can't bare to look at them, the repub voters have proven time and time again to follow lock step, I don't think it matters who gets the nom from them, they simply follow the rule book they are emailed and forget that they might not have cared for a certain candidate,

And there are many against this war, he doesn't have the monopoly on that issue, he is no more a threat than any of the others, again, voting fraud is our biggest threat.

11. You underestimate his popularity -- even on DU,
where he has been lauded for his stance on Iraq and called "the Silver Fox."

He'd be much more popular among the independents who help to decide elections.
