Getting more depressed as I wander through Dem's websites in the house...
I found a link with Yes votes on FISA and am going through the websites of house Members voting for it, and so far (just up to C's) I not only see no mention of the vote, I see some sites who have not updated their press releases since May.

Here we have people in power, those who can make or change laws, stop wars and impeach a president, and it all seems business as usual so far.

Yeah, they have some interesting info to read (see links below) and things that can offer hope, but it seems the issues we fret about here get little to no mention by many of those we busted ass to elect.

I still have a TON of reps to go through, but so far it is not encouraging - I see more patriotism here at DU (as far as being progressive and standing for the Constitution) than I do at our elected leaders' sites.

Final Vote on FISA (those not in Italic are Dems)

So yeah, I am disappointed - but still hopeful (as noted, I do see some progressive things making progress and being introduced).

It is OUR party, our hope, and our chance to change the future for the better.

It is just frustrating, but still - it is a step in the right direction.

I will keep voting dem, I just hope they start voting for the people and progressive ideals as a team.

I know change takes time, but it also takes the right people pushing for the right things.

There is a leadership vacuum. Let's hope that changes soon.

Rant over :)

1. I think you should run for office.
If you want something done right, do it yourself.

I don't mean this to sound snarky, I'm 100% serious.

4. Honestly, I would, if my wife's health was better
Right now all I can offer is my vote and my voice.

I have been active in politics before (used to attend every city council meeting in Whitehall, mailed and called my reps in the state - Ohio - and so on).

Right now, I have to focus on family. Out of work and getting unemployment, the upside though is I am here each day for the wife. Some days are good, many are bad (example, she cut the grass today and trimmed the bushes, and is now down for the count so up to me to make dinner and watch our daughter until bed time).

My uncle was an elected Dem and served people well. My mother-in-law is also an elected Dem here in CA and serving people well, and my father-in-law still works for the union (now free of charge to help local halls, and relies on me to assist them on computer issues) and has spent 40+ years keeping dems in power here (and my wife, in her earlier years, pounded the pavement for Feinstein and others).

I would love to run for office, I just don't have the money to have someone take care of my family while I do it.

2. I am not disappointed.
Our Dennis Kucinich always votes right.

3. Why do you torture yourself?
As I have said to many friends over the years, those
who do the same thing over and over and expect
a different result...
You can not pick berries from a thorn bush.

Thorn bushes do not grow berries.
Do not expect the current corporate owned Dems to produce fruit either.

We need to clear the garden and start over.

5. I guess I keep expecting our elected dems to have the passion we here on DU have
And while some do, many do not. Maybe they are just new to it and learning the ropes, so I will cut em some slack.

But overall, I would think that someone that runs as a dem would have more passion.

I DO see it, just not on all the topics that we hold near and dear. They are doing their job to some extent (helping out with getting money to come in locally and such) but on the broader issues (war, fisa, et al) they seem to be...well out of it :)
