UH OH! Pentagon turned down Pelosi's request for big plane!
Just heard this on Malloy's show. They said she would have to be satisfied with the one Hastert used, even though it can't fly non-stop from DC to Ca!!!!

\GEE, I wonder what the decision would have been ifthe Speaker would have been Duncan Hunter?????

1. Wasn't it the security people that wanted it to be able to fly non-stop, not

Nancy?

"Who's right and who's wrong?

Below we noted that the Washington Times story about Nancy Pelosi's demand for a military aircraft for travel back to her district appears to be a crock. According to Thinkprogress and reporting in Roll Call, former Speaker Denny Hastert used a military plane for travel to his district. But the plane he used couldn't carry enough fuel to fly nonstop across the country.

A Pelosi aide told Roll Call: "The Air Force determined that safety would be best ensured by using a plane that has the fuel capacity to go coast-to-coast. All we’re asking for is what Hastert had."

So this seems to be the issue: a military aircraft for the Speaker has been the rule since 9/11. But a larger plane is needed for Pelosi since she flies back and forth to California, not Illinois.

Okay, let's move along.

Now, the original Washington Times story said that Pelosi wanted the larger plane so family and friends and staff and others could fly with her. But apparently that was false. "

2. I don't know. I thought I heard that somewhere too though.
I have several questions about this whole thing.

1. What were the luxuries aboard the plane Hastert used? many smaller planes haveluxuries you and I can only dream about, but the Media really made a big deal about all the ones on the plane Nancy asked for.)

2. What really is the cost of flying a smaller plane at max capability, and having to stop and refuel at least once each way, compaired to the cost of the larger one that just cruizes one the flight?

3. who REAllY did state "for security reasons, the flight should be non-stop"?

Gee, I wonder if I'll EVER get those answers?

3. That's what I heard too - they didn't want to do security detail for the extra stop.
Made sense to me.

My nephew used to do the AF bomb sniffing detail for President Clinton - every stop is a huge, huge, deal. Of course, military installations were a bit easier.

I wonder where her stop will have to be? Maybe here in TX?

7. The plane Pelosi wants has the capacity to carry "50" passengers.
If Pelosi can't stomach the smaller plane she can step down.

She is not a queen.

Her plane should be "off the table."

8. 50 passengers - are you repeating Lou Dobbs
talking point that he received from the WH? Not based on facts.

Did you type that with a straight face?

10. Deadly serious. Not from Dobbs -
It was on one of the major networks evening news - I flip channels so not sure which one. They even had a photo or diagram comparing the sizes of the "little" one and the "larger" one Pelosi requested.

Millions in this country are having a difficult time keeping body and soul together. I am sick and tired of her "let them eat cake" egotistical attitude.

11. I'd like to find the model of each plane. So much has been made of this issue.
I have to admit, I even though it was a much larger plane than a 50 passenger. I'm sure not expert, but I know quite a bit about the different aircraft and their capabilities.

Anyone hear exactly what planes they're talking about?

15. WTF are you talking about? "Let them eat cake attitude" ???
If you're so well-informed via "channel surfing," :eyes: pray tell WHY did she request a larger plane? It seems there are different stories afloat, but you KNOW she wants it to feel important?

Give it a damned rest already.

13. Hastert had to fly from, where, Illinois to DC?
Pelosi has to fly from CA.

Different aircraft capacities, that's all.
