The Choice

The way I see it, we've got two options. We can either swallow the fact that a sizeable minority of our Democrats in Congress will give BushCo anything it wants and do nothing, or we can raise as large a stink about it as we can manage.

The "well, they have conservative constituents" argument doesn't wash. ALL of America is being screwed over. The Constitution is being undermined at every turn, and there is NO EXCUSE for dismantling the 4th Amendment based on some vague fear that somewhere a terrorist might be planning a strike.

There's not even any guarantee that giving them this power would do a damn thing to prevent another attack. So far every would-be "threat" that's been found has been found through ordinary police work WITHIN the bounds of the Constitution.

People are pissed and they should be. A lot of time, energy, and money was poured into the campaigns of these people, these Filthy Fifty-Seven, and this vote was a punch in the gut to every single person who contributed any of these things to those campaigns.

It was an out-and-out betrayal of everything we believe in. And, allegedly, everything THEY believe in.

We have a right to be pissed. And if the only thing we can do is scream about it for the time being, that's exactly what we're going to do.

We're damned tired of hearing the excuses.
