John Edwards joins labor protest; plant ownership unfurls "Hillary" banner
SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- John Edwards, speaking yesterday at a rally in support of striking Teamsters members here, encountered an unexpected protest of his own.

As Edwards praised the workers for their courage -- they have been on strike since last October -- the owner of the Standard Ready Mix cement plant unrolled a 10-foot-long "Hillary For President" banner in front of a truck next to the rally.

"Cute, that's cute," Edwards said, pausing for a moment as he watched the huge blue and white banner unfurl in support of his rival. It was the first stop for Edwards as he kicked off a two-day Iowa trip that focuses on trade and economic policies. Today he is delivering a major address in Cedar Rapids outlining what he bills as a smart and safe trade policy that grows the economy for all working families while protecting labor and environmental standards.

7. The other threads on this topic.
Hillary has several major union endorsements. If you really think that owner supports her, think again....

26. What in the world makes you think she doesn't have corporate intersts above unions?
She's a corporatist. That's WHY the media contends she is the frontrunner, THEY want her.

I should have phrased this better I guess!

I am an Edwards supporter, not a Hillary supporter.

8. Too bad these Teamsters supported Bush and are now crying over the high cost of health insurance
as they picket a single company owner, perhaps the should instead be thinking about sending their brains to the dry cleaners.

Sorry for my mistake.

9. BREAKING NEWS: Hillary Returns to her Roots - the Republican Party!
In an astonishing move today, Hillary Clinton renounced her membership in the Democrat Party and changed her registration back to the Republican Party. The former First Lady said that she needed to return to her roots in her run for the Presidency so that she could represent the interests of those who have always stood with her. The White House immediately released a statement by President Bush, who said that he welcomed Mrs. Clinton back home and offered his support to her so that his important work to protect America can be carried on in the next administration. Mrs. Clinton in her statement explaining her change in course, said once a Goldwater Girl, always a Goldwater Girl. She said is more comfortable with the family values of the Party of Lincoln. She said she has realized that it was time to overturn Roe v. Wade to end the devisiveness in America and move on to the more important work of the United States - streghtening the military and making the world safe for corporations. After all, those are the interests who have been supporting me. Bill Clinton offered that he was happy that people will now appreciate that Hillary actually does have cleavage, and isn't afraid to use it. Rumors that Nancy Pelosi was changing parties could not be confirmed as this story went to press.

20. He'd better come up with some snappier comebacks
Saying "That's cute" isn't much of a retort. What's next, rubber-glue? He's got be ready to seize moments like this and turn them around in his favor. If he can't do it against his primary opponents, what happens when he's up against the GOP? I thought Kerry had that instinct in him and it drove me crazy that he didn't use it. Obama's got it. Edwards better get it going.

I doubt very seriously that Mrs. Clinton would ever do anything for the workers in this country.
