In the future, Bush will be an icon of all of the wrong things in politics, an icon of failure of public service. Until a few years ago, that icon was Richard Nixon. Before him, it was Warren Harding; before him, Ulysses Grant or James Buchanan. But George W. Bush has achieved his legacy, his icon status, as a symbol of the worst in American politics and public life.
