More to this? Brit Terror Chief quits over affair
Seems like a strange reason to quit as the "Counter Terrorism and UK Operations director" to me....Does anyone else think there's more to this? Surely having an affair isn't a reason to resign from a job? (Obviously i'm not making any moral judgements on the man, just seems to me rather unlikely someone would resign for this reason)

LONDON, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Brigadier Paul Gibson, the top anti-terrorism officer in Britain, has resigned his position after confessing that he had been cheating on his wife.

Ministry of Defense sources said that the Counter Terrorism and UK Operations director shocked his superiors when he informed them of his decision to leave the post after a long and dignified career, The Mail on Sunday reported.

Plus, I haven't seen this reported anywhere else. What's this report missing out?

4. I guess it could be any one of these things mentioned
But thanks Malaise, the thought did cross my mind that he might have been in some way involved with the de Menezes murder, although I can't see where he'd fit into that chain..I did read a report yesterday that there would be further revelations about Jean Charles de Menezes being murdered, so maybe he did play some sort of role in that. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on this story.

I did find this resignation unusual though, people here don't usually resign over affairs, the only other reasons I could possibly think of were if he was abusing his position, or if his affair put national security at risk.
