3. I get them all the time, too
Variations: a worshiper, a partner, a family member, a coworker. On and on. I must get about 5 a day. They all end up in my spam folder. The first one I got a few weeks ago I tried to open but my virus detector caught it and I deleted it.

Anyone who really sends me an e-card is out of luck now. I won't open any of them.

19. Have you fixed the machine yet?
Here's a free antivirus: http://www.avast.com/eng/download.html

Free Online Virus Scan: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

You can also check at www.majorgeeks.com .. they have a large array of free software and programs, plus a large selection that you have to pay for. Anything you need can probably be found, that's why I like the site. It's easy to navigate and you don't have to go 'site hopping' to find what you need.

20. I already had an antivirus on there, but it did not pick it up...
Scanned few times, then used Ad Aware? scanned again...Had to call Dell tech support, while we got it to work again, they suggested I backup my stuff immediately! I am day to day....Thanks for the links.

12. My own rule is to never open attachments from someone I don't know...
that and good antivirus prevents a lot of problems. I always thought it was common sense.

13. In more than a decade on the web ...
I have learned: NEVER open Email from someone you don't know ..... EVER ! ....

I NEVER open attachments from people I do know .... (figuring they may not have actually sent it, OR it is an obvious spam message sent from their address, OR it is a chain letter or something I dont trust in, OR it's lame and I would never want to actually read it anyways ..) ... UNLESS it is something I am expecting from them ...

My Email address is not posted here ... IF I want to give it to someone, I'll give it to them myself ...

The web is like a dirty street curb .... I would restrain myself from putting things found there into the mouth ... (Metaphorically speaking)

14. Me, too.
I have one e-mail for friends and family and another for the rest, who quite often pass my address around like it's written on the bathroom wall.

22. Here's a handy tip
Most email client software programs like Outlook and Thunderbird have a default display setting that is downright dangerous. It's called a Preview Pane. If your email software automatically opens a preview of email sent to you, go into your Preferences/settings and turn it off.
