More problems with Earthlink. Haven't received any emails since 8:00 pm yesterday.
For someone who receives an average of at least ten to fifteen an hour, something is wrong.

I continue to receive fewer and fewer emails from Earthlink.

And most are now just spam emails.

The other day I had a friend of mine do a test and send me what amounted to four emails consecutively (because I was not receiving any) which I only received two of them, and that was THREE hours later.

What happened to the other two?

What is going on with Earthlink?

This has been happening off and on for quite a while now.

Anyone else experiencing these "problems"?

Getting rather fed up.....

1. that's a good question. I haven't received any e-mails in over 24 hours too
and I have Earthlink. Admittedly I don't think I get as many e-mails as you, but I would think that in this time time I would have gotten something. Even spam!

3. I'm hearing this a lot. Have you called them?
Sometimes for whatever reason that seems to help.

I haven't called them this time.

However it has been happening so frequently I have stopped calling.

As far as switching I am not aware of any other option other than my phone company.

Are there other legitimate options?

2. Had to cancel my Earthlink service...
...because of technical problems. Probably could have solved them but it wasn't worth the time. Not surprised to hear that other users are having problems.

13. He's checking up on the democrats and spending our tax dollars
spying on us for Karl and his political "NUMBERS" and diverting the country's money and energy and manpower away from catching the real bad guys.

6. I haven't had any e-mail problems.
Did you check for network status reports in your area? I think I read
that they're upgrading the servers in different area's, so there may
be some downtimes here and there. Tech Support -- 1-888-327-8454

Also, have you checked your Spam Folder and the settings for Spam Control?

9. Thank you Breeze.
It does seem as though they could send out an email to those accountsthat are accessible to get the word out.

Who knows.

Thanks again for the information.

10. That's what the
Network Status Report is!! :)

They don't know if you are having a problem unless you tell them,
unless it's a problem reaching the masses, you know? Call them! ;)

11. No shortage in calls. I dial them at least three times a week.
It's actually gone down a bit, but more from simply feeling like it is not helping.

The reps either say 'gee, it works from here' or 'can't see any problem'.

I don't think it is their fault, but something is not right.

It seems to happen more in the evening from like 7:00 until the next morning No emails will be received, and at times I have had friends send messages and they don't come through, or if they do, it takes about three to four hours. Weird.

Then for a while my emails will come in a steady pace, then all of a sudden nothing for hours sometimes twelve and up to twenty four hours. With no legitimate explanation given when I call.

It gets a little tiring.

Tonight I opted to find out what others have experienced.

Perhaps my experience may validate someone elses.

PM me with that and your area code, if you don't want to post it here.

I'll see if I can find out anything for your area.

14. Happened here last week, and previously six months ago
The Tech-ster went through the steps of changing my settings, the "mail stmp" thingy. When we got through--SAME error message. He transferred me to a Tech Supervisor. CLICK!!1 Disconnected!!1. When I called back and got a new T.S., he said this was their server problem and would take 24 hours to fix. Next day it was working.

Don't know whether the o.p. is referring to personal e-mails or to spam "info" e-mails from Earthlink. I really don't want to hear from providers except at renewal time.

16. Personal emails that get thrown back to sender and yet my account performs normally
and when trying to retrieve messages, it says I haven't received any, when in fact I am receiving them but they are being thrown back.

Still not getting emails - and yet my program acts as though its running fine.

17. Well, in that case, I *also* have a story!!1
Edited on Sun Aug-05-07 10:23 AM by UTUSN
I regularly e-mail the local radio wingnut talkshow host. 3 weeks ago, ALL my e-mails to him (NOT to anybody else) were bouncing. I tried deleting graphics, extra text, sending the bare bones link only. His company has a "Barracuda spam filter." On the phone, he said it would take his getting me on the "safe" list by his IT department, which he did & it started working fine.

So in your case (I am the LEAST Tech savvy person in existence), it sounds like YOUR system (spam firewall) is blocking them? Or something about checking the "Authentification" block somewhere? Perhaps this will be a clue to an actual Tech-savvy type, who can steer you.

Also, my real problem was with my preferred Outlook Express. The Earthlink mail was working fine, but I don't like it. After the Earthlink server was fixed, the Tech was able to fix the Outlook Express problem.

18. You're using an e-mail program?
I thought you were logging into Earthlink webmail to check.

maybe the settings are wrong, old or corrupt.
