Why? Why? Why? Why?
I don't understand what is happening. What did the last election mean, exactly? Why is this happening?

Why? :banghead:

Why? :banghead:

Why?:banghead: :banghead:

I better go to bed before I knock myself out.

4. If they quit listening to the beltway pundits
and paid attention to their constituents they'd realize they stand a far better chance of keeping their jobs by opposing this bunch a fuckin crooks at every turn. Fat boy russert, tweety, wolf blitzer and their ilk do not have the best ineterests of Democrats at heart and the sooner these dumshits realize it the better off we'll all be.

12. note the districts they live in -
just maybe they were doing what their constituents want (which would be a nice change, except that their constituents are obviously all IDIOTS!)

Seriously, though - should a Congressman/Senator - vote the way the majority of their constituents want, or not?

8. It means the repug noise machine is still working
It means that our elections are little more than well funded popularity contests and that ideals and actual ideas are dead in our nation. People are being amused to death. They would rather vote on who they think is a better singer or who should be kicked out of the house rather than actually be informed about the issues and what is happening to their nation.

Information overload has numbed people's ability to discern what the hell is going on. One expert says this and another says that. People are left scratching their head thinking that if the experts can't make up their mind then its beyond them.

This is what happens in a day and age where we have a deep understanding of the human psyche and how to market to it and sway its thinking even though it doesn't understand the reasons why it is being swayed. Elections are just marketting blitz campaigns that don't even begin to engage the people's minds on real subjects.

Until we bring the media and electoral process back into the control of the people we are screwed. Reason is dead and its because we are being appealed to via emotional ad campaigns.

9. Yes, I agree. An intellectually lazy populace that is more
concerned with Lohan or Idol or Spears can't possibly absorb anything of consequence. Which means those of us who do/can think are the ones who should be truly frightened, since we see where this may be going.

10. Singularity
Why?

From across the universe we see intense flashes of energy signaling the dying of once brilliant stars. Swallowed by the immense unstoppable grip of forces beyond our control -- Black Holes. As they suck up all our energy, the more they get the more powerful they become. Cheney's failing heart is the dark center of the end of things. Maybe he is not just the cause but the symbol or symptom of the end of the the Great American Experiment. Like the fall of a beautiful species of bird to extinction we've witness things we should not witness because a few could not see the end result of their actions. We see it. We grieve and feel that pain. We understand and feel what they don't. And what are we prepared to do about it after so much we've already tried. Rest, then renew the fight I guess.

11. Because many Dems have become wimps and many others just lie...
Edited on Sat Aug-04-07 11:17 PM by KoKo01
sorry..but that's what it is. I prase the ones who voted against this...but too many voted for it. I won't even speak about the Senate.

But, both Pelosi and Reid presented their positions very differently in their Press Conferene on Friday.

They led listeners to believe that they were both TOTALLY against allowing Gonzo to have more power.

I will never believe or trust what they say again. It comes off as a terrible "stunt" now that I look back on that Press Conference. If they can't hold their Dems together for something this important then they aren't LEADERS.

Dems are desperate for a truthful voice and a leadership that truly leads and doesn't jump when Bush snaps his fingers. No more stunts. ACTIONS speak louder than WORDS. Their WORDS are not truthful.

Link to what I heard from their press conference on Friday ...before the Senate vote:
