Al Gore's New Channel
About a year ago I criticized Al Gore's news channel in that I thought it did not do what it was needed to do, which was form a challegne to the right-wing misinformation. I am here again because earlier this year I thought that the channel was good for anyone who had a video recorder because that person could try to video tape things happening in there area of the world and send the video into Current TV. For instance, anyone in an area of America dealing with the immigration issue could send in video tapes dealing with the immigration issue. However, I have been reading the book "Robbing Us Blind" and now feel that yes, Al Gore needs to revamp his network. I had heard this before, but this morning I read that 50% of the people polled by Knight Ridder in January of 2003 thought that the terrorists who hijacked planes on 9/11 were Iraqi. When so many people are being misinformed there is a need for a news network that gives people real information. I can imagine that if a group of Americans were polled today the majority of them would think the Saudis have nothing to do with the attacks on American troops in Iraq and that the oil bill that the Iraqi Parliment did not pass had nothing to do with American oil companies. At this point in time people need to be informed about what is going on in the world, not how some guy can break dance and how he gets his hair cut.

I will admit I have not watched Current TV in a while. However, when I did check in on the channel athough there were some very informative things on the channel there were many occasions were there were just clips of people doing similar things to break dancing and getting their hair cut. I think America and the world needs better and I think Al Gore can do better.

1. Current TV is about getting people to share stories - it isn't a hard-hitting news
channel. If you want hard-hitting news, check out

The Real News - still emerging as a 24/7 news source - they post stories online now

2. I guess you cant please everybody!
Current TV is on our favorites list on our big screen and is the 2nd station in the line up. Current TV speaks directly to the viewer and especially the 15 to 30 year old crowd.
This is the "New" news. get rid of your stereotypes of what you know. There are some very serious subjects that have been reported by "regular" people and fun stuff too. It is so much better than any other thing on the old "Boob Tube".

3. Typing Error
I realize when I came back to check if people had replied to what I wrote that I had forgot to put an "s" at the end of new in the title. The title should have read "Al Gore's News Channel".
