20. One who believes in the exposure of prejudice and idiocy.
Give them a platform to demonstrate their ignorance.

7. Too many Christians know how to hate extremely well.
And along with the other DUer, I also wonder what kind of editor puts that kind of hate spew in their paper?

5. That's either satire..
or the dumbest thing I've read in awhile. And "Christians" think they're persecuted? I won't even tell most people I come in contact with that I'm an atheist. It would be better to tell them I drink the blood of puppies and kittens.

10. The Peninsula Clarion
http://www.peninsulaclarion.com/letters/

There is a letter published last Thursday from a "god-fearing" Christian. Atheists are left alone this time, but Harry Potter isn't. What kind of town is Soldotna, anyway? I didn't even read this kind of crap in the Salt Lake Tribune.

16. I love that his name is "Baty." One more t and it would be perfect!
I am so sick of hearing this:

"All worship is OK as long as it is not toward the God of Abraham, Isaack and Jacob.

"The God that our nation was founded on has been almost erased from our history as a nation and is the only God we can't acknowledge openly or in any public place."

What county is this guy in, where nobody's allowed to acknowledge the Christian god? They start congress every day with a goddamn prayer! Talk about a delusional persecution complex.

And it's funny how fundies are always so freaked out about anything to do with magic. I think they must actually believe in it.

19. Wow, what an asinine paper. Check out this LTTE from the next day about Muslims:
It seems to me that the American people need to wake up to the fact that the Muslims are trying to dominate our way of life. If we let Muslims decide our politics, we as a society will be in trouble.

Recently a Muslim was elected to our Congress, they know the way to dominate the American people is through getting elected to higher positions, where they can influence our politics. In years past, a number of Muslims got elected to a Michigan town council and congress. I believe that this is only the beginning, despite an outcry from the local residents, the call to prayer comes over loud speakers and echoes throughout the city.

I fear that if we let anymore of these people get elected they will destroy us from within. They have proven they cannot be trusted and quite frankly are barbarians, anyone who cuts off heads in the name of Muhammad are not civilized people. We as a nation must protect our citizens, because one true agenda of the Muslims is to convert the rest of us to there thinking and if they get elected to higher offices they will have the format to do just that.

So wake up America, they have landed on our shores

11. I believe in the nothingness beyond god
A faith in and of itself leaves all religions as 'dead on arrival.' Yet, this is too ungraspable for those looking for the illogically and impossible infinite regress model of religion. Isn't believing in the human condition enough proof in itself without having to split hairs over the minutiae of which human-invented religion to prescribe to if according to some, may be going somewhere else or not, then our opinion and belief makes no whit of difference either now or later. The human condition is life, so live it well. Existentialism.

13. okay this moran never studied civics/government did they?
Did they never hear of "separation of church and state"? And the fact that the state is not supposed to support any particular religion. Oh and stupido...some religions find it OFFENSIVE to pray in secular places like schools- I like the fact that all the religions this idiot mentioned are Christian sects..What do you want to bet this person thinks all the muslim theocracies (which is what this person is advocating- a theocracy) are evul!
What makes me, as an atheist mad is that if this person made this case about any other group of people it probably would not have been published. Atheist bashing is a favorite pasttime of the media, IMHO.

14. If this happens,
then next year, this same letter would appear, only the word "atheist" would be taken out and the word "Muslim" put in. The logic would be that the Muslims don't worship "her" God. But the intolerance would be the same. The absurd notions that all "evil" comes from "them", "they" cause crime, etc. etc.

21. I'd like to dedicate this to Alice Shannon of Soldotna, AK.....
Here's a little XTC for you, now go get yourself a clue.

Dear god,
Hope you got the letter,
And I pray you can make it better down here.
I dont mean a big reduction in the price of beer,
But all the people that you made in your image,
See them starving on their feet,
cause they dont get enough to eat

From god,
I cant believe in you.

Dear god,
Sorry to disturb you,
But I feel that I should be heard loud and clear.
We all need a big reduction in amount of tears,
And all the people that you made in your image,
See them fighting in the street,
cause they cant make opinions meet,
About god,
I cant believe in you.

Did you make disease, and the diamond blue?
Did you make mankind after we made you?
And the devil too!

Dear god,
Dont know if you noticed,
But your name is on a lot of quotes in this book.
Us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look,
And all the people that you made in your image,
Still believing that junk is true.
Well I know it aint and so do you,
Dear god,
I cant believe in,
I dont believe in,

I wont believe in heaven and hell.
No saints, no sinners,
No devil as well.
No pearly gates, no thorny crown.
Youre always letting us humans down.
The wars you bring, the babes you drown.
Those lost at sea and never found,
And its the same the whole world round.
The hurt I see helps to compound,
That the father, son and holy ghost,
Is just somebodys unholy hoax,
And if youre up there youll perceive,
That my hearts here upon my sleeve.
If theres one thing I dont believe in...

Its you,
Dear god.

23. The second paragraph almost reads like satire
It would be hilarious if it weren't so ignorant and brutish. Emphasis added by yours truly:

The United States is based on having freedom of religion, speech, etc., which means you can believe in God any way you want (Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, etc.), but you must believe.
